Summary: The Ball is a sport competitive challenge of meeting bipolar, which is based on a formal ceremony and a few speeches, raising the possibility of an interpretation that goes beyond the purely sporting field. The liturgical way that maintains and the thoughts of the players themselves about it, allow consideration of the Ball Foundation as a ritual expression and community. Although framed within the tradition of studies rituals as representations of a culturally original being in the world, this thesis recognized in Ball precepts of formalization that transcend culture, and that entroncan directly with an original way of being human, it has to do precisely with the apprehension of Culture. In this belief methodologically establishing the division between the second part, insists that it has "universal" the ritual process, ie what has excisional and restoration of community unity, and the third, which stops in the meanings expressed in the symbols and rituals fundamental underpinning the ideal culture. The first part deals with contextualize the phenomenon under study both cultural and historical.
