Summary: The objective of this research is to analyze projects that are proposed intervention for the transformation of the place autoconstruido perspective hermeneutics and dialogic. It was part of the study of the processes of production and reproduction of the urban habitat autoconstruido in the city of Caracas, Venezuela, in order to deepen the knowledge of their reality as âlugarâ starting point for the analysis and evaluation of the reach of projects urbano-arquitectónicos they intend to intervene these fragments of the plot socio-física of the city. It was part of the notion of place as a cross between development and structure developed by Muntañola, concept design determinant of the human habitat which recognizes its natural and cultural value as a source of architectural imagination. The research is based on the tenets of the epistemological and ontological hermeneutics philosophy of Heidegger, Gadamer and Ricoeur which propose a way of interpretation to understand the reality with an emphasis on the incorporation of the look "the other" in the process of prefiguration , configuration and refiguración of places to live. It was also based on input from theory and dialogical communication Bajtin and theoretical studies and proposals of Muntañola who reinterprets a Bajtin to propose an architecture based on a dialogía social construct the bridge between hermeneutics philosophy, science social and architecture. The methodology developed follow the procedures and remedies proposed by qualitative methodologies, in conjunction with instruments for recording and analysis of quantitative data. We used as a research strategy case study. It designed a instrumento-guía analysis and understanding of Projects (IACP), which represents the primary contribution of this study. This tool has been implemented as a strategic framework for the study and analysis of an experience proyectual developed in a neighborhood of the city of Caracas-quarter Catuche- between the years 1988 and 1999. It proposes four categories relational as starting points to understand and analyze projects as dialógicas relations systems. These categories are designed in an open and flexible, allowing for the emergence of a network of categories from the realities studied. The techniques and practices for collecting information used were simple and participant observation and individual interviews semistructured, conducted with key informants. It also appealed to the collection of cartographic information, photographic film and related analytical processes, and propositive action implemented in the experiment. The procedure for data analysis was guided by the guidelines of the proposed categorical analysis by Martinez; Lincoln & Guba and Strauss and Corbin. The data obtained allowed to record the visions, meanings and directions that guided the actions of the various subjects involved, as well as the recognition, study and understanding of the relationship of these subjects with experience. This study allowed to test the interpretive approach and perspective in a dialogic experience in proyectual which have been implemented concepts and procedures relating to the analysis and forms of action that recognize the socio physical nature, multidimensional and complex of these urban locations; relations between people and objects that occur in these districts, recognizing, identifying and assessing what these mean for urban builders and their inhabitants, their value as cultural production own, specific, unique.

Summary: Jorge Oteiza Embil (Orio, 1908 â San Sebastián, 2003) designed various interventions in the architecture field. Chronologically we could find about 25 operations of different level and planning. He designs in 1958-1959, together with the architect Roberto Puig Alvarez, the Project for The Monument to José Batlle y Ordóñez in Montevideo. The thesis certifies the way Oteiza highly implicated himself in the intervention, revealing through the monument important parameters that help understand his conception about space. This is the main component of any architectural construction. The memorial will lead us to explore part of the complex production developed by Jorje Oteiza. Locating all the existing documents was a priority task in order to work with the real information. Understanding this project implicates problems that gather together in several archives: Uruguay, France and Spain, are the places where we will find The Monument. From this platform we are able to discover the work at the real scale. For the study we will use architectural specific tools as the drawings and we will also process all the related images and texts. The thesis structure is formed by 5 parts, 2 of them linked to the documentation process and the other 3 related to the project comprehension and interpretation. These last 3 chapters will lead us through the work and work-connected areas of influence: .-âthe Objectâ: a project meant to be a tribute for the ex-president of Uruguay José Batlle y Ordóñez, located in the Rodó Park of Montevideo. An anomalous ending competition called 74 designs from 25 countries. The Oteiza and Puig project articulates itself by the means of three elements with radical geometry and the intention of generating a spiritual space. It is a project that uses the empty space as the main tool for architectural construction. .-âthe Processâ: the previous work employed for its definition. Manifesto â memory as an attitude towards art in general and towards architecture in particular. The sketchsculptures were used for studying different relations between the parts and the whole of the proposal. The outline-projects concentrated various interests and composition systems before their utilization in The Monument. All this mean a set of keys showing us the creating system that supported the Uruguayan intervention. .-âthe Landscapeâ: that implicates a reflective and operating activity. The composition it is being studied on its original parts. The integration process and the relationship between the works and the environment are being valued. The works assignment it is being analyzed: the human being, as the final reason of any action, meaning a social transformation. The sequential development used, from the singularity of the example to the generality of the ideology, is ascending and consolidating every one of the knowledge levels meanwhile a cross lecture of the architect work in this field is set. The whole discussion will help us deepen on the space and its definition according to Oteiza, setting us in front of a transcendental and open process: âThe true spiritual transcendence of a new and original art is the true esthetical creation: the spatial clearanceâ. (Jorge Oteiza)

Summary: The central object of this paper is constituted by those spaces for teaching and research designed by Fernando Moreno Barbera along his career as an architect in the exercise. Spaces that, in addition, the majority were intended to impart practical lessons, and her program included accommodation tasks experimental -laboratorios or talleres-, both for teaching and, in many cases, for investigation. Moreover, the title also refers to the profile of strict professional architect who, as such, the architecture conceived as a practical activity, such that only through the exercise rigorous and demanding to be derived from the teachings accordingly. That has been precisely one of the most important implications of this research: apprehend those lessons inherent in the practice of Fernando Moreno Barbera has been possible to deduce that through the analysis of the approach, methodology and results of all their spaces dedicated the functions of teaching and research. Fernando Moreno Barbera (Ceuta, 1913-Madrid, 1998) conducted their studies in architecture at the School of Madrid during the mid-thirties. Graduated in 1940, his career took place mostly during the years of the Franco dictatorship, which he joined a clear ideological line. His work clearly connects with the modern architectural, whose principles are aligned almost from the beginning of his activity. Established in Madrid, his career encompassing almost the entire second half of the twentieth century, including a large collection of works and projects spread across Spain and also with considerable activity abroad.

Summary: The objective of the thesis is to develop an example of research methodology about The Urban Form, presenting a new interpretation of the place on Regomir, located in the city of Barcelona. I believe this analysis exercise is fundamental to the Rehabilitation of Urban Forms and Architecture in general. Prior to the development of the practical part of the work specified in the case of Regomir, the thesis sets forth a discourse that frames the subject of Rehabilitation from the theoretical angle. In the first chapter, the section for the bibliographical comments describes the entirety of situations that have played a role in shaping the history of the rehabilitation of architecture in the last century, formalising the background in order to have a broader vision available for current reality. To finish, the bibliographical comments contain the entirety of data published that are part of the secondary documentation collection used in my subsequent research about the specific case of Regomir. The second chapter describes the predisposition, training and planning of architecture as a veritable tool for protecting our heritage, reaching an in-depth understanding the Rehabilitation as a Planning Attitude. The objective of the third chapter of the thesis, The Case of Regomir, is to develop a concrete case for the analysis of Urban Form, providing an overall vision of the strategies of the method. This exercise allows you to draw closer to the formal, constructive and functional logic of the Urban Form of a place that has been known for centuries as El Regomir, located in the municipality of the city of Barcelona, currently coinciding with the area of this city where the carrer del Regomir is located. The current Carrer del Regomir is located on the southern side of the Gothic neighbourhood of the historic centre, starting at the Plaza of Regomir and ending at Carrer Ample. The concrete research subject arose from an interest towards an ancient and long-standing building located on a section of the street with the same name, shaping a large part of its morphology, currently identified with the numbers 11-19 on this street. The work proposes to carry out a search arising around a specific architectural work, but tightly linked to the sector it is part of, with the text and context as two intentions in themselves, forming part of a single process and a single conceptual unit. The concrete study of this place shall provide data about the customs, the economy, the needs, the construction and the architecture of the city in its training process. The study of El Regomir is presented as a methodological example in order to understand professional attitudes about rehabilitation, based on a necessary understanding prior to all Rehabilitation Projects, showing the search strategies that propitiate a project that is in dialogue with its environment. The methodology used can be extrapolated in order to research and learn about other fragments of the city that as of today have yet to be studies. Therefore, the efforts taken in the sector of El Regomir will help to understand the history of the Urban Forms of Barcelona, setting forth the strategies to be used for the study of the Catalan Urban Form in general. The value -but more general than I consider in the presentation of this work- is to transmit an attitude and a learning method in the field of rehabilitation, which is applicable to any level of architecture, from the seemingly simplest architecture to the most complex and renowned. This document develops a fragment of the Urban Form of Barcelona, where there will be an opportunity to work with extremely diverse documentation, a fact that comprehensively illustrates the possibility of searching for the method. All architects, in every rehabilitation project that they are appointed to, must know how to access all possible existing documentation and determine the objectives and the limits of their search.
  • THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT FOR THE CONSTRUCTIVE PROCESS. THE OPERA SYDNEY AND THE POMPIDOU CENTER IN PARIS.

Summary: After the analysis of the construction of the project by the moderns and its relation with the architectural promise in some of the works built by its masters, the thesis makes a sistematic study of the constuction of the Sydney Opera House and the Pompidou Centre in Paris. From this analysis, we emphasise a whole host of circumstances that give rise to the transformation of the architectural project during its building process. Nevertheless, the existence of points in common and the structural character of some of them allow us to suspect a situation in architecture¾at least in the second half of the 20th century¾in which we might question the project understood as a worthy and complete anticipation of its realisation. The project foregrounds the twin task of separating and grouping assignments and kinds of knowledge in the multiple agents who come together on the building site. Their effectiveness will reside in the extent to which it is known how to establish the right conditions for the convergence of all these specialists. The participation becomes indispensable of the figure of an engineer committed to the project and who is capable of incorporating in the latter the technical complexity of a form not only compatible with, but also active in, its definition. From the point of view of the architectural object, of the container, the project understood as a fixed technical document is no longer either complete or infallible. The project acquires another quality, which is that of shaping and formulating certain hypotheses on its use and its content. The project is not restricted to organising and assigning spaces to a programme but rather it also acts in itself on the organisation of the building. The difficulty that comes with the unilateral fixing on the part of the architect of the collective and social use of the building will have repercussions in its subsequent evolution. The content, then, slips away from the certainties of the project. As an economic phenomenon the first Moderns gave up on their aspiration to Taylorise building work, in backing a semi-prefabricated industry in which the relationship between architecture and building work is one of denial: it is born of it and needs it in order to subject it to violence or take it to the limit. Consequently, this is an economic phenomenon that is difficult to predict and which generates conflict on the building site because the construction industry is after cost-effectiveness in the optimisation of solutions and relies on the catalogue in order to resolve known problems. The flexibility of this industry is all but exceptional and is little encouraged. All this means that notwithstanding attempts at normative and dimensional unification, the building site is hardly inscribed in an economy of prescription. To sum up, comparative analysis of these two examples shows how progressive technological complexity, specialisation (which relies on the active and renewed role of the figure of the engineer), the implantation of new programmes, the difficulty of anticipating the economic phenomenon of the construction work and the variability of clients are some of the vectors of uncertainty which accompanied the evolution of their respective processes of materialisation, in a collective framework of architectural creation and in a governmental context of their importance. Faced with this new situation, which is generated during the second half of the 20th century, architecture and finally architects look for new responses. The Sydney Opera House and the Beaubourg in Paris announce paths of a different kind. In the presence of this reality we have been able to intuit some mechanisms within reach of the project and of the architect in the study of the reference materials. The project fragments, adopts deformable geometries, acquires a strategic quality and encourages the reclaiming of spaces of transversal collaboration between the different agents.

Summary: The Doctoral Thesis "Asturias and Latin America, Hospitals and Assistance Centers. Promotion, sponsorship and projects", which is the author Patricia Secades Fernandez, a typology studying architectural suffering great changes over the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as is the At the same time health architecture complements and extends one of the most interesting processes of recent architectural and cultural history of Asturias, as is the set of relationships, mecenazgos and exchanges due to the process of emigration and what we know as Architecture Indians. The work done in Asturias, is broken down in the archives of the former Provincial Council, Municipal Archives, the College of Architects, and individuals. If the output of unpublished sources, this thesis makes a job very well grounded, not least the analysis and the presentation of results. The sequence of hospitals and centers, resulted in Asturias two key economic flows; was evidenced by private foundations and public foundations. The theme of patronage, the involvement of professionals, the modernization of health care affecting the provision of equipment and buildings. It analyzes hospitals in Asturias, some of great interest as the old Provincial Hospital of Llamaquique which won numerous international awards, and hospitals in Argentina founded by the Spanish colony and Asturias, all contextualized historical, sociological and culturally, after consulting numerous sources hemerográficas and an extensive bibliography The results, translated to light a model academic work, with a clear methodology, as set out in chapters eloquent and which also provides a body of architectural biographies we were unknown. It also has great value as a contribution to the theme of heritage, offering retraining for a heritage largely lost or converted to other uses in the case of small schools, and changed very large. So as director of the thesis backing so reliable and unpublished scientific quality of the work submitted.
