Summary: A transition to the Nordic Modern Architecture: Moving gradually toward mastery of touch. The proposed research is to document the transition to the Swedish architect Sigurd Lewerentz (1885-1975) conducted from Classicism to the Nordic Modern Architecture, providing material analysis to shed light on their way depensar architecture. In any case, rebuilding estrcutrua a historical period. This has been revealing the criteria, the legalities which are based on the concepts of four works copies of Lewrentz. Â What is the explanation for the trajectory of architects like Asplund, Lewrentz or Aalto, who has cultivated a certain classicism in its infancy then arrived with the clarity of converts to develop a work of modern architecture? The architects Nordic assumed from practice as some principles that they were themselves. Since his condition periféria had perfecata aware of what was at stake: they were not mimic a way of doing architecture, but to re-planteársela from the conditions and possibilities that were on hand. Then in an effort consisted of originality. The Modern Architecture, freeing forms, provided an opportunity to re-watch. No more fixing to royalty. Therefore, the road to the definition of Modern Architecture in the Nordic countries is rather experimental rather than disruptive, where there is a quiet observation of the phenomenon of the vanguards and decanting a particular formal determined by the landscape and traditional techniques. Since the change of sensitivity to the form which opens the Modern Architecture, the study aims to reveal this change in the time to design and develop the site. If we understand how this inherent structure that supports its own content, then the objective of this work is to declare the perception constructively in the work of this architect and highlight profiles some discruso theoretical, reaching declare the idea of order underlying each project. Aspects sometimes dispersed the role, material or technique has been tried articuladamente in analyzing cases. This investigation will inevitably pass on the ground for the project. Understanding project as a theory genral of the way it has conducted an active review and reading of the elements of composition and procedures with which it is built. The way is thus, the place where verify this transition.

Summary: The imprint of the institute of architecture and urbanism of Tucuman on stage Argentine in the second half of the twentieth century is linked to a local reaffirmation of the modern movement. Maybe what transcends its short existence is its effort to consolidate, through education budgets and constructive theorists of modern architecture, where ideology and practice together for the first time at home in a university setting. Under the new methodology disciplinary conceived projects from the institute who were paradigms of the modern movement in Argentine inconclusia university city of Tucuman, in the Cerro San Javier, City Hospital in Horco Molle and a series of regulatory plans for the regin, these projects although past were designed scuando the institute had disappeared in 1952 change its name by faculty of architecture and urbanism show the direct influence of a postulate. Thus in the case of works of eminent public and sponsored by the national government, there exists a particular conjunction of architecture, university and state.

Summary: There are some concepts that are easy accommodation between us, minetras others, sometimes more carefully designed or selected to go and disappear fast. I am referring to those words that arise suddenly, are present with unusual strength and share their stay with others who had to work hard for many years to finally be accepted in our architectural jargon: limit, is one of them. The appearance of architectural glass in the production, establishes criteria for the posting of theft on the wall (horadar, close, open) up criteria addition (scrape, restrict, limit), noting the importance of reverse processes of transparency and reflection : glass means time and confín threshold. Mies van der rohe, in projecting in 1922 the Rascacielos Glass, introduces a new debate on the membrane on the wall. A reflection on the skin of the building, a transparent skin, a skin that disappears and a tapestry of vitreous reflections of deep density. Against the unequivocal nature of the traditional wall, said the semantics of a wall tras-materializarse. The glass itself becomes idea arqutiectura. The wall of the twenty-first century is a complex area that expresses the suture between interior and exterior with minimal materiality. One of these sites is the transcendent materiality of Paradise Chamber of Danteum. In the columns of glass, the symbolic merges with the visible; how identifies with the subject. Glass calls as bright full union reflexes and trasparencias, what tangible and intangible, which transcends and peremptory. The Memorial to the Six Million Jews Martyrs of Kahn, the architecture of this is born live in the area, from the man to light. They ashlars light, the area is bright. But ashlars of Kahn are not strictly crystals are made light matter. When we built with glass, inhabit the threshold of matter. I understand that everything is a rumor limits under the light. And I understand that the limit can not remain inexpresado.

Summary: The dissertation is the result of the condition of teacher Ideación Graphical ETSAM, which endorses these lines, as well as his professional side of the authorship of projects on models of small housing for young people, students and housing social led aligning its author to the knowledge of the theory exist zminimum and their models. Involved all in a compendium of reflection parallel between academic research and professional, following the adoption of the aforementioned title, this theory led to a more eloquent caption with subsequent development: EVOLUTION AND THEIR EFFECT ON PRINCIPLES RADICALES, seeking to make the draft Minimum housing and its graphic representation, a set of disciplinary knowledge. To address this comprehensive study on housing has been used as parameters the following basic units: the cell to live, the status of its new equipment, models grouping in shaping the bloc and its alternatives urban management. Construction for trabjadores displaced industries, hundreds of thousands of homes in inadequate conditions forced the State in the first decade of the twentieth century, to take part in the problem of this type of accommodation and began a process of streamlining and standardizing the same. Being the only socialized housing facing its own and radical transformation, derived as one of its consequences is minimal. The New Architecture proposal through the vanguards extends across Europe, based on industrial progress and the use of new techniques to meet the needs of a changing society. The identity crisis suffered by architects compared to the prestige of the new profresionales; engineers, leads them to consider their social mission. The minimum housing is not therefore a reduction in the residence but has become a new way of living for the new man. And it is in this position starter from where this research addresses a comprehensive study on living in the industrial development of the city. In order to make this clear in his speech time and space, is palican methodologically different paths supporting the scientific presentation of the construction of the space dwell on the project team / representation. This is, therefore, to establish the relationship on architecture and housing minimum drawing that represents analyzed through both materials and the evolution of its principles radical effect until today.

Summary: The development of industrial production of new materials in the late nineteenth century, such as steel with the investigation converter Bessemer in 1885 and reinforced concrete with patents which will be recorded in the last years of the century and the early part of the twentieth century will have a direct involvement in the construction system in the architecture. The use of such materials will be systematized in the definition of new structural techniques to be applied in the construction of Architecture transforming their early definition as well as its characterization space. The thesis examines the implications Spain in the use of new materials and their application techniques systematized in a new structure and whose implementation on the body constructive traditional architectural allow clarify the evolution of the relationship between structure and how to decant the definition of structural autonomy as the formal characterization of the arquitctura modern Spain. The research says is the period 1900-1936, accurately analyze the impact of the application of new techniques in a wide range of architectures most significant period in Spain, discovering relationships original, in the trials to be conducted in buildings the industrial sector. The study of the structure and its relationship to the architectural form is discussed in the first chapter, which corresponds to the analysis of the new materials that will define the structures with the beginning of the century, as well as scientific knowledge to bear that changes in production and uses the structures. It should be borne in mind that new materials such as reinforced concrete match their constructive development as their knowledge and approaches to the calculation of their capabilities with the beginning of the century. Secondly highlighting the implications of the application of the new technique on the old structures. And thirdly the process by which the structure, freed from the old relations with the agencies, will take autonomy in defining space. In sengundo plane on which is projected the investigation is taking as reference the development of new typological Architecture. Analyzing the implications of the implementation structures, as well as changes in it to meet the demands of new programs functional, will clarify the role they had new techniques in the development of new types paradigms of modern architecture, linear block and the building height. The third way of analysis will be shown on the form of figuration itself. The language of constructive architecture becomes the reason for the definition, the classical languages postponed after the invalidation of genetic models tradition. With the introduction of the structure resistant to traditional factories, the facade is expressed as a unit extended, ie support and figuration will be separated as autonomous functions. The invalidation of the language with the marginalization of the traditional models and its stylistic characterization will be transformed by the loss of the personal nature of the way. The language will fight as a constructive instrument emblematic of architecture. Interest in establishing the foundations for the new language will bow in the search for models whose origin reference will be placed in the field of industrial production and its logical analogy mechanical collate industrial production characterized as a formal reference to the new architecture.

Summary: PURPOSE The purpose of this thesis has been to try to uncover potential motives or ideas that resulted in the design of the building more emblematic of the seventh century, "The Dome of the Rock," which is in Jerusalem at the center of a "Esplanade of the Mosques" or Haram. DEVELOPMENT After an exhaustive study of the analysis provided by previous authors and to the weakness observed in the influence of potential coming mentioning, the thesis chooses to study the geographical, political and cultural life of the era in which the author / en and work is found involved, in order to establish a more appropriate basis for the interpretation. In this context highlight the religious context as one of the key drivers of events of all sorts that took place, not only in the area studied, but in the circumstances and their possible contacts. Conclusions In this study emerge a series of pathways analysis, layout, justification of the system constructive, symbolism and detail and decoration that will eventually converge into a dominant direction, to show that the author is due / eron try to reflect in its design religious beliefs they were immersed in a world gnóstico-valentiniano, polluted by influences both Egyptian and Mesopotamian collateral. As additional elements, the thesis brings to the fore three details, but referred to in documents at the time, had gone virtually unnoticed so far: 1 - The ability of both the dome as the lower deck, had been in the first añós, bread covered with gold. 2-Through the same time, the building was protected during the winters of two decks of felt and fur. 3-To be developed, also in its infancy, an important ritual based on the massive use of substances olorosas, who came to permeate the entire platform of Haram.

Summary: The thesis examines the changes occurring in the architecture Chilean during the first half of the twentieth century and particularly the decades between 1910 and 1940. These changes in the architecture produced in parallel to the modernization of the cultural landscape as well as social, economic, which affects the country during that period. For the particular case of architecture, the thesis shows how earthquakes that shook the country in 1928 and 1939 were some of the modernization process accelerators architectural. This process also accompanied the transformations that took the different associations of architects and culminating with the creation of the College of Architects of Chile in 1942. The architectural journals, linked to associations of architects, was a key witness and gave accomplished account of these changes. The thesis attempts to uncover the role of these publications were inside the transformation that ultimately lead to the establishment of modern architecture in Chile in the late 40.

Summary: The work done by Patricia Zamundio has been rigorous and comprehensive. During his stay in the doctoranda Spain has been able to continue the development of its work since its inception, when it started its doctoral studies course and the course with me: "Strategies experimental art and architecture." Considering this whole dissertation I can say that the work, methodology and tools are provided critics with a high academic level. The insertion of his subject of study in the overall context of the cultures, places and myths is certainly a thorough analysis of the state of affairs of the topic of this paper. This "mapping" staff on the landscape, art and architecture creates a framework of singular interest of contemporary architecture and coordinates almost "timeless" from which they can address today's problems. Hence, the analysis is done in art and arquitctura Mexican contemporary with a solid foundation from the scientific point of view in the context of what must be a doctoral thesis.
  • THE ARCHITECTURE AND ARCHEOLOGY OF THE RESTORATION PROJECT

Summary: This thesis aims to practical verification of the implementation of the archeology of architecture as a tool of analysis, knowledge and evaluation in the restoration project, using as a case study the proposed main excavation and restoration of monuments of the Umayyads Amman Citadel of the doctoral student whose work has led since 1995 to 2001. It seeks an investigation of the empirical method as a tool cognitive prior to the decision-making involved in the restoration project, during its drafting and implementation, and even as a tool for testing and evaluating the results of the intervention itself. Likewise, there is a deepening in some respects not sufficiently developed supráxis, and discussion of some theoretical aspects, linking the mere use of a particular research and development of further applications of the same. The so-called "Archeology of Architecture" is a new discipline with properly, a new interdisciplinary methodology body whose objective is the study of architecture from the perspective of models with a perfect definition espacio-tempora unalterable, closed and ideal (as with the proposed frequency Art History), but according to their evolution over time, the result of different anthropogenic or natural changes that has emerged, and vary depending on the conditions of its natural and historical context. The fact that a building is built "historic", being the result of its multiple stages constructive interventions, ruins and successive reconstructions, and the need to know the time frame in depth, are essential when planning a new intervention conservation / restoration of the same. The Archeology of Architecture aims to reconstruct the history of the building, implying conclusions from the data obtained from its implementation on the same data that require further research project to develop so that through an interpretative model charged significance and historical value and technical. Obteniéndose well that "historical reconstruction" ranging from its sequence cronológica-constructiva, characterization techniques employed constructive, changing their states of balance, their transformations and degradation, to the evolution of its use, functionality and meaning. This discipline can sort, in a logical fashion and the enormous amount of scientific information contained in the structures built so far and that converged on the restoration project in a manner often chaotic, liitando their cognitive ability and thus its usefulness. The study of material culture is the basis of this new discipline, from the time they are recognized (as in all archeology) of the building itself as a document and enede as the main source of information for the knowledge of their history This applies both to structures in use or ruined, and underground deposits. This approach suggests the division of the argument into two parts: the analysis of discipline in relation to the restoration and practical application of case studies and the results obtained. These results are encrypted. Both in the speech on the monument, as in the wealth of knowledge "historic" and "technicals" obtained on the historical context of the monument, their use and meaning (social, political and cultural), as their techniques and vicissitudes constructive , as well as the theoretical elaborations on the discipline and its application). They are reflected in the publications that have been presented at various scientific forums during the course of project implementation, and are presented as appendages members of the thesis.

Place of preparation: ETSAB, EDIFICI A Campus SUD.
Summary: The thesis examines the architectural and urban patterns caused by tourism, from the decade of 1950 in Florianópolis-Isla of Santa Catarina. The mass tourism, which emerged after the Second World War, has mobilized people, changed landscape and led to architectures themselves on all continents. Florianopolis, capital of the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, expanded at an island territory, with almost half the area preserved, has experienced the effects of this important phenomenon over the last few decades. The natural beauty of the island, exuberant, diversified and warm waters, attracts an increasing number of tourists seeking to enjoy its beaches, the sun and the sea. Being located on an island region is very sensitive, being subject to degradation by bad use of its territory. The study of urban development, architecture and other original, which came out later, as well as the architectural and urban solutions originated with tourism, provide a basis for identifying strengths and acknowledge mistakes. The case studies covered in acceptance and tenets enshrined internationally, offer subsidies to determine architectural and urban patterns to be considered in future projects, and that may contribute to the architecture of tourism, not only of Florianopolis, but other similar premises, avoiding difficulties generated by rapid urbanization and speculation inconsequential in coastal cities with tourism.

Summary: The thesis presented by Inigo De Viar is a work based on the author's own experience as a teacher and project an attempt to systematize this experience. In its first part, it takes a look at a number of concepts and ideas. Trying to interpret them as elements that underlie so rational. The startup process for the project. In the last chapter the author makes it clear that this process gives broad leeway to procedures based on intuition. Of particular concern is the set of illustrations, it offers a series of drawings by the author of the thesis that show clearly the weight given to the relevant sketches of hands, while explaining the cultural lived in a world parallel to the architectural design .

Summary: This is the first study I know regard to the organization of data to look at the quality acoustic spaces to design, which uses both technologies as the current design tradicional. The study is ambitious in that it makes a very complete sweep, not just treatment of sound, alive, amplified, new modes and control, but the goal of that sound, music, oral communication, mixed and its best qualities in each case the formal qualities and materials that should have precincts in which the activity takes place. Full study analyzing the methods that have been historically followed for the acoustic design of the premises, and proposing a new one, with the help of software. The methodology is very clear, it could almost qualify as cartersiana, acotando well every problem and perfectly consistent with the goals and acotaciones visual and conceptual field of the thesis. Treatment generally is a somewhat innovative way to tackle the problem and practical approach which provides for the design of acoustic spaces value is very interesting. Moreover, the literature used, very orderly directed to the specific objectives of the thesis, and increased contributions by personal documentation of local or closed, covered in their quality of acoustic space, it is a reinforcement invaluable. The literature presented, according to the orderly structure of the thesis in each of the sections, most of the literature refers generally in a more than adequate the source, and even becomes part of the contents of the thesis with the combination of that more técnico-física with which refers to the configuration of architectural space.

Summary: The theme for this Doctoral Thesis, is a dissertation on the building Torres Blancas Madrid. The development of this research focuses on the documentary, in the compilation and organization of material available for this building. All the elements found in both the process of project, as the work of publications and finishing of the building are reflected here so that the order adopted and the presentation of each and every one of them is the message. Torres Blancas is a building housing site in Madrid. Avd. American, 37. It was the work of Francisco Javier Saenz de Oíza. He was promoted by John Huarte, through the construction company Huarte and the real estate Hisa. In this project, so staff and extended over time, as enriched from external references, collaboration and the stretch continued for a decade, emphasizes participation as assistants Saenz de Oíza, architects John Daniel Fullaondo and Rafael Moneo. Between 1960 and 1961, began the project and the work was conducted between the years 1964 and 1971. Architecture Prize in 1972 was the Official College of Architects of Madrid. Spanish is the building of the sixties more periodicals published in both national and international, and later was included in much of books critical of modern architecture, gaining a unique position and marginal at the same time, it became an expression unique in the Spanish architecture of the era. Corresponding to the stage called organic architecture Madrid with marked tendency neoexpresionista and suggestions surreal, all coupled with its experimental nature. This work has been organized into four chapters that somehow decompose the object of study. The plant, the volume and space, structure and context critical that the parties are trying to compose a critical path purely structural setting its eyes on every thing in itself. The pulse stops abruptly after the introduction, which spoke from the initial obsession and as such widespread and visceral. Then the vertigo that first breath and just starting a slow journey and rational approach, which is removal of interpretations and conclusions. The description of the document is the message. Torres Blancas is a strange thing and this gives it an unreal character and disturbing. Some encouragement will ensue surreal part of the production of those years and is suitable for a thread placed in the middle of that landscape within which we can say about this book that "the most unreal is that to be real." Such an environment that appears bland in this building, causing some concern and unease, it is also the historic environment that was characterized by a pervasive silence about Frank Lloyd Wright. Torres Blancas is the only character, quiet and powerful emerging as the sole witness and manifestation of the most important works from Gaudi. The obviousness of the paper, collected, sorted and reproduced here, is the message. The weight and the tedium of the presence of extensive drawings, photographs, publications and interviews is what we want to argue this work and it has to do with your character deeply. It is difficult to find a building housing they have done so many drawings and which have experienced such diverse options floor. Torres Blancas is more than an apartment building. It is an experiment that swept over the decade brighter of the Spanish architecture, in which the material is a circumstance in the midst of this massive investigation. This work does not have the ambition to generate a speech generalizing or exhausting other possible interpretations of the work at hand. Only within the modest limits of this approach we are proposing, we will try to compose a critical path with a relative value and dependent of this work that we qualify as a pilot. That mental composition was reason for our obsesió 8 n starts 35th l amending, not on the issues but on their morphological argument. From this point of view put to the fore the issue unsuspected, hidden beneath appearances under that name and vague and confusing "Torres Blancas."

Summary: The thesis focuses its research on the work of painter and architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg in the period between the years 1960 and 1976, corresponding to phases of training, early work and initial success, to identify and analyze the source of your production method artistic. Its development is divided into three sections: the first addresses the complete collection of information to establish the state of affairs and also contains a summary of the critical positions held by the authors who have critical thinking and writing on the production of JNB, including texts's own artists, the second deals with the description and interpretation of the contents of the material gathered, interrelacionándolos for a summary of the findings of other authors, and the third provides an analysis of the most representative examples of the production of JNB, during the review period. All this arguing and organizing the text of the theses put it in parallel with the artist's biography and the different stages of his work, so that rebuilding can go ideally the mental and physical process of conceptualization and implementation of selected pieces for analysis, we arrive well in the investigation to a summary of conclusions that explain and make it understandable JNB production in the different areas of experimentation that have been developed. The thesis reference is to be understood as a study and research open, as there can be another way to deal with an author alive and as is the possibility of multiple interpretations of the same work of JNB, which denies the absolutes and Alternatively, rather than perfection as final finishing order, the construction of sets whose components acquire meaning as members of an organic system rather than as autonomous parts of a mechanism.

Focusing on the Roman province in Lusitania, I have selected a number of projects for its typological characteristics are more interesting and representative, while presenting enough remains for study. Only, as far as theaters and amphitheaters is concerned, I have incorporated examples built in other provinces Roman West since their richness and complexity architectural feel appropriate to make a comparative study between them, in the section final conclusions, in terms of organization of form and space, their relationship with the environment, traffic, approximations and shortcuts, and so on. In the final conclusions, he examines the influence they could have those architectures in their environment through their enclave in the urban fabric, its shape and size, proportions and dimensions, materials, colors and textures, lights and shadows projected, and so on.

Summary: The text deals with three different ways of research. These three tracks, though independent, arise under the intuition that tectonics Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was debate between modernity and tradition. This tradition is discussed in this paper, low principles developed in the nineteenth century landscape painting. The landscape painting of the nineteenth century opens new fields in the design of the table. On the one hand, the search for reality in the language of what represented. On the other hand, a direct relationship with the observer. These two tracks are the driving force behind this relationship is proposed in this thesis. This is not a historical comparison, but to think about the aesthetic discourse developed in the nineteenth and the Mies on categories entering the distant and near, in relation to observador-habitante with the creation of "a place ". This partnership is in how to structure the space of the table in the landscape painting of Friedrich and proposals developed by Mies space in their settlements in relation to the surrounding landscape and nature. Importantly, a painting by Friedrich is not, at least not addressed the same problems that an architectural and could only become a "simple", the comparison. But it focuses more on general methods to concrete solutions. And it is here where we find more links and connections. The first topic of research is the study, analysis and removal of housing Wolf (1925-27). In this analysis emphasizes how to put housing on the site and its relationship between the materials used in the spaces created. It delves into the concept of plinto and its influence on the ways of seeing the inhabitant. The second issue relates to research and development of a study ways to settle the houses on the site of Mies. It has been divided into three main types placed on the site. These three ways are through the podium, the wall tectonic and space high, which is called hinge. These three support are developed based on the assumptions contained in the study of housing Wolf, in which examples are some of the houses planned by Mies.
