The debate on the culture of prestige and mass culture has framed the way in which they have received an author's works which form part of both areas and utliza styles, themes and references to popular culture in a fiction with claims beyond the entertainment. The thesis is combined analysis of the receipt of each of the novels, the study of the use of popular culture, consumption and the mass media that is done the same and, finally, an analysis of the aesthetics of each novel. Ellis has a particularly literary style known as "Blank Fiction." This is eun style that combines a minimalist prose, filled with references to mass culture and without an aesthetic position compromised with taboo subjects such as torture, rape, murder or drugs. His particular literary style, his controversial issues and their use of mass culture has led to a major controversy and has prevented an in-depth analysis of their works. This thesis seeks to provide that analysis, always taking into account the context that has surrounded his works and changes in the literary market in a time in which the boundaries between culture populr and prestige are increasingly blurred.
