Summary: This Doctoral Thesis seeks to show that the fear is one of the key elements on which mainstream of the various works of Tennessee Williams. Throughout his career as a playwright, Williams created characters and situations that perfectly embodies the theme of fear. So far, the fear has not received sufficient attention from the critical specialized and, while there were references to it, has not been considered as a factor that covers their entire literary output. Accordingly, I have found it useful to devote the necessary attention to see that this is a recurring element in his work. Reading most of the criteria in southern playwright proves that their heroes are all victims of fear, which separates some other works is the pattern of fear, ie reactive cause fear in the individual and their impact on the lives of those who feel. Knowledge of fear has offered me a different view of the author and his work. The methodology chosen for the realization of the thesis is consistent with the title of the same, as it has combined two different disciplines, psychology and literary criticism. For the first it has been necessary broad knowledge of different psychological currents, in addition to an in-depth study on fear. Names like Freud and Jung appear frequently in the critical work about Tennessee Williams. The psychological richness of the characters williamsianos brings them closer to reality and turns them into beings perfectly indentificables and authentic. This makes it possible to find them in very human emotions and reactions as fear and has made possible this kind of analysis from the current psychoanalytic theory sy. Fear referred to continuously in this thesis is a neurotic fear, irrational fear that largely determines the relationship between individuals and the world. The analysis of the characters has been able to show how this fear, their trigger mechanisms and the dangers for the individual. All this has offered us an entirely different picture of them, and has contributed to understand its most hidden. The thesis is divided into five chapters: The first has shown that the fear was present in the life of the writer, replicating the same in their compositions led me to analyze features biographical and I found that fear was not a literary theme but a reality personnel. The second chapter is organized into several sections, the first analyzes fear in general and its role in the works of Tennessee Williams, three below show fear in three works; Suddenly, Last Summer, The Night of the Iguana and Outcry. From the third chapter begins analysis of three of the best works of Williams, which represents a complete stylistic development and mark different stages as a playwright. In the three has been used the same method of work, has analyzed the family unit, then show how fear operates on some characters. It has included a section in which he had established the similarities between Tennesseee Williams and the characters analyzed and we have seen how relatively often reflect the experiences of the author and are infected by their fears. Although not all are victims of the same fear, I have a chapter titled with the name of fear in Central against each other in The Glass Menagerie speaks of fear to live in a Streectcar Named Desire fear of loneliness and Cat on a Hot Tin roof of the fear of accepting one's own sexuality. The thesis concludes with a series of reflections about what raised in the various chapters of the same. I have come to the conclusion that Tennessee Williams lived prey to irrational fears proceeds from their family situation, these fears deeply affected their existence and condition greatly his way 8 of acts 356 r, feel and write as a result of her work is the direct heir of those fears. Through this analysis I have tried to provide a different view of the author and his work.

Summary: This thesis is divided into two blocs: the largest is the annotated edition of 1070 letters written by the diplomat José Nicolás de Azara since 1784, the year of his appointment as minister plenipotentiary of Spain to the Holy See, until his death in Paris in January 1804. It is a heterogeneous body written in Spanish primarily, but also in Italian and French; largely is unprecedented and is intended for various correspondents whose letters are arranged chronologically, there are characters related to the arts (such as Bodoni printer, painter Francisco Javier Ramos), members of the Roman Curia (the Pope Pius VI and various cardinals), general and French politicians (the same Napoleon Bonaparte, Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand), Spanish political (Counts of Aranda and Floridablanca, Manuel Godoy Francisco de Saavedra, Luis Mariano de Urquijo, Pedro Cevallos, Jose de Galvez), other diplomats (Count of Campoalange, John Bouligny) and characters of the Enlightenment Spanish friends or relatives of Azara (Eugene, Llaguno, Bernardo de Iriarte and Eusebio Bardají). Below is an appendix with 45 responses from any of the previous ones. The text was transcribed from original manuscripts wherever possible, and is noted as a dual system notes: on the one hand the location and hermeneutics textual (footnote) and the other kind of historical, artistic literary and in the end, these are supplemented with a section of biographical notes, which provide brief overviews of the characters that appear cited in the letters. Complementing the edition contained a chronological index of the Epistles, a onomástico index of the characters and works cited and other illustrations. The preliminary study on the issue aim to set out the intellectual biography of the character; the first three paragraphs are in chronological order: first, discusses his formative years in Spain, then the fascinating world Roman Azara knew as a politician and as a humanist; thirdly, how he faced the collapse of the Old Regime after the French invasion of Italy in 1796, with his departure to Paris as ambassador to Spain before the first directory to the consulate and later in this stage also explores his vision of the Parisian cultural life. The next chapter explores the spaces and forms of sociability diplomat, which are deducted from their individual tastes and practices. Then they look at the opinion that Azara deserved their peers and how they have been treated by historians, philologists and art critics. A special section is devoted to poetry and rhetoric of letters edited, whose code epistolary discussed, as well as the mechanisms peculiar style. • GENDER AND IDENTITY IN THE WORKS OF FICTION GABRIEL MIRÓ.

    University: AUTÓNOMA DE BARCELONA [www.uab.es].
Place of defense: FACULTAD DE FILOSOFÍA Y LETRAS.
Place of preparation: ESCUELA DE POSTGRADO.
Summary: The idea that this work is structured as follows: the work of narrative Gabriel Miró feeds on a topic, the centrality of sight, it is absolutely critical to the culture finisecular and therefore the work mironiana participates in plain in speeches cultural end of the century. To show this hypothesis work devotes the first chapter to rebuild what I consider the main lines of the culture finisecular; my description of the end of the century - that purport to be exhaustive in any way - suggests that modernity is a time of metamorphosis of sight: opens with a ocularcentrismo positive and optimistic that drift into a crisis of perception and subjectivity - which call ocularcentrsimo deceptivo- fact that the basis of culture finisecular. If you look historically been defined as the most noble of the senses and their perception was associated with values of truth and raciocino, modernity will erode this equation and the end of the century, quite simply, this divorce is used as a basis for projects aesthetic. Look and truth and objectivity look, and look really are dissociated and the end of the century draws aesthetic advantage of this new concept. Defined finisecular the period, the second chapter is destiando to show the relevance of that adjective in the draft aesthetic mironiano. To that end, I have focused on the study of theoretical texts of Gabril Miro, essentially "Sigà ¼ enza and the lookout blue." The entire text, displays, in my opinion, and so I tried to prove it, a program that collects the best aesthetic of poetic aestheticians the end of the century, repensándolas from afar and ensamblándolas one way aboslutamente original. Therefore this chapter covers the theoretical texts mironianos but read them alongside their intertextos what I consider essential: Ruskin, Pater, Wilde and Guyau, in particular, with the intention of breaking the image of isolated writer who for many years has surrounded Miró . At this point, the connection of the project and the work mironiana with the culture of the end of the century, just as it should be confronted with the reading and interpretation of the texts in order to show how this ocularcentrismo deceptivo is treated literary. The result of the re-lectura of the work mironiana is as follows: if the finisecular culture and the aesthetic project of Gabriel Miró discover that the look is a way of relating to the world, which is neither transparent nor objective, the literary work tematizar is dedicated to time and again that look at two aspects: the gaze as an area subject to manipulation and at the same time, as a manipulative force. The vicissitudes of sight are matched in the work mironiana, the question of identity and subjectivity. The identity as something marked: marked mainly by gender. Gender identity and look devienen three axes that are combined to form incisive novel in the works of Gabriel Miró and that intersect in innovative ways, so that the work of Miró narrative can be seen as a lucid reflection on gender and identity.
