HEMO METABOLISM IN A MOUSE MODEL OF ERYTHROPOIETIC PROTOPORPHYRIA. EFFECT OF CHANGES IN THE SYNTHESIS OF HEMO IN THE ACTIVITY OF THE MITOCHONDRIAL RESPIRATORY CHAIN.Author: NAVARRO ORDOÑÉZ SUSANA. Year: 2003. University: COMPLUTENSE DE MADRID. Place of defense: BIOLOGÍA. Place of preparation: HOSPITAL 12 DE OCTUBRE. Summary: The protoporfiría Erythropoietic (EPP), is an autosomal dominant inherited disease characterized by weakness of the last enzyme in the path of synthesis of hemo, ferrochelatase (Fech). As a result of this enzyme blockage occurs accumulation of protoporphyrin in all tissue (bone marrow erythrocytes, plasma, liver, skin, etc.). most frequent manifestation of this disease is the fotosensibilada skin, although a 5-10% of patients develop liver failure, which could require transaplante liver jeopardizing the patient's life. The mice homozygous for the mutation Fech m1pas/Fech m1pas of PPE constitiye a mouse model in which reproduces the human disease in the degree of mayro severity: photosensitivity skin and liver. Since the mayorí of components of the mitochondrial respiratory chain (CRM) are hemoproteínas, it is logical to assume that the alterations of metagbolismo of hemo may affect the activities of this transport system mail, which could be related to the development of hepatoptía . This thesis estudía if ferrochelatase hypoactivity of the enzyme and / or the accumulation of protoporphyrin in mice Fechm1pas/Fech m1pas can alter the synthesis and / or activity of these hemoproteinas liver. The results obtained in this study suggest that increased activity of the complex of CRM, through increased synthesis of ATP, protects against the hepatotoxic effect of protoporphyrin accumulated in the model used EPP. Year: 2004. University: COMPLUTENSE DE MADRID. Place of defense: FACULTAD DE MEDICINA. Place of preparation: FACULTAD DE MEDICINA (DPTO. DE TOXICOLOGÍA Y LEGISLACIÓN SANITARIA).
Summary: The objective of this thesis is twofold: on the one hand presenting the genetic basis of population and math assessment tests genéticoforenses and on the other bring original investigation as a number of useful expressions in practice everyday expert to analyze biological evidence from two people it is suspected are empmarentadas (father and son, uncle and nephew, cousins) are deducted expressions for three different cases: 1) taxpayers unrelated from the same population for which data are available frequencies, 2) taxpayers belonging to a same subpopulation on which no data are population and 3) contributors blood. In addition presents the application of expressions obtained several actual cases provided by the laboratory DNA of the general police station scientific Madrid. ANALYSIS OF A NEW STRUCTURAL MODEL OF GENERATING SYSTEMS BASED ON KNOWLEDGE APPLICATION IN BIOLOGYAuthor: LEVY BENASULY MIGUEL. Year: 2004. University: COMPLUTENSE DE MADRID. Place of defense: FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS BIOLÓGICAS. Place of preparation: FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS BIOLÓGICAS. Summary: This argument raises the objective of developing a new computer generating Knowledge Systems Based on multimedia precedence in biology. To complete this objective, presents an analysis of the computer application NEXUS. With NEXUS contributing even new architecture for the development of generators SBC Based on a horizontal division of responsibilities in the system, which has enabled us to design the application as NEXUS cooperation of three separate systems: SAM (Assistant System for maintaining SBC), NCI (Central Core Inference) and SARC (Autonomous System for Knowledge Representation). The SAM, under a common interface integrates several subsystems publishers specializing in editing and maintenance, both of the different elements that make up the knowledge base of an SBC, as well as d interface with which such systems can interact with the user, device other external applications. The NCI, substitute inference engine, its mission is to coordinate and manage next to the SARC, both processes inference, as the flow of information between SBC, the user and abroad. The SARC is a specialized system for the storage and knowledge management. Its design is based on a spatial structure instanciable dynamic nodes and arcs, which may represent the various components of knowledge, as well as the partnership between them. Also contributing a new architecture for SBC, created with NEXUS, whose design is based on cooperation, at runtime, two systems: NCI and SARC The representation of knowledge in terms of its components, we can provide a new model for the graphic representation of knowledge: Networks SMCPC (Networks Semantics of concepto-proposición-conocimiento). DESK STUDY ON THE INFLUENCE OF THE SOLVENT IN THE STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS OF ADNAuthor: RUEDA BORREGO MANUEL. Year: 2005. University: BARCELONA. Place of defense: FACULTAD DE BIOLOGÍA. Place of preparation: FACULTAD DE BIOLOGÍA - UNIVERSIDAD DE BARCELONA.
Summary: In this thesis is deepening in the knowledge of the influence of solvent in the structure and dynamics of DNA computing techniques. Specific objectives were these: * The study of a sequence of DNA in solution with different ionic forces with the goal of streamlining how contraiones modulate structural and dynamic properties of the molecule. * The study of various nucleic acids canonical and non canonical in the absence of solvent, under conditions similar to those in the experiments by mass spectrometry with electrospray ionization (ESI-MS). The systems studied were: * The double helix of DNA Complexes * non-covalent between minor groove binders (mG-binders) and DNA double chain * Structures DNA formed by four chains (G-cuaddúplex) To address the problem using a set of computational techniques based on the Molecular Dynamics, which provide information on the structural and dynamic atomic molecule level. Through them, it is possible to supplement the experimental data currently available on the structure and conformation of DNA.
