Summary: In the first chapter technological externalities are estimated at the local level using the growth in total factor productivity in the cities of Italy. In accordance with the main theories of agglomeration results indicate positive effects of the expertise and scale of productive economic activity locally. All previous work based on the analysis of growth in occupancy, found opposite results. In chapter demonstrated how these works can be affected by serious problems of identification. In the second chapter measured the effects of social networks in the labor market. We use data on the universe of workers and businesses in two provinces to link Italian dimension and quality of the individual networks with the likelihood of finding work and the wages of entry. The results indicate that more extensive social networks and with a higher occupancy rate increases the probability of leaving the unemployment on the other hand we did not find significant effects on wages. The third chapter discusses whether the wage profile of workers in the industrial districts incorporate compensation for accumulated on-the-job skills. The issue is relevant because if so that the dismissed workers were able to find work in the same sector suffer a cut in salary inferioir to the other workers. The results econometric not suportan this hypothesis.
