Summary: Analysis of the nature of the transmission mechanism of monetary policy within the euro, trying to identify potential sources of regional asymmetries in the process, especially those of a financial nature. The thesis is structured in 6 chapters, including an introductory chapter, and another corresponding to the findings. In chapter 2 is a literature review macroeconomic theory on the mechanism of transmission. In chapters 3 and 4 are thoroughly analyzed the relative power of different channels in different economies in the EU, while it is estimated, by using the same technique VAR, the impact of the proceedings on economic activity different Europe. Moreover, in these chapters is evidence to suggest, online recent developments from the field of monetary theory, that the financial structure may play an important role in explaining the regional asymmetries detected in the monetary transmission. In particular, this chapter examines empirically whether the actions of monetary policy carried out by the Bank of Spain during the stage immediately anteior the launching of the EU have been distributed evenly between the different autonomous regions in Spain, while it examines the role played by various variables of a financial nature in the explanation of such asymmetries.

Summary: The increased prominence given to the EU's regional policy, whose budget has grown exponentially every year, is motivating the progressive realization of regional jobs, with higher levels of disaggregation space. The present study on the impact NUTS III of the euroregion Galicia-Norte Portugal, in which we try to identify the similarities and regional asymmetries, through comparative analysis of major macroeconomic variables, for the period between 1995 and 2002, and then establishing the empirical relationship between human capital and the process of economic growth in each region. The analysis of this relationship is embodied by its econometric study, based on the model estimated Solow expanded through the classic Cobb-Douglas production function, the areas of activity for secondary and tertiary, with the aim of checking its positive impact on development and determine the extent to which the territorial units involved, have reduced their differences in the respective stages of development, converging toward the same steady state, in the medium and long term.
