Summary: The privatization processes, in his dual role of transferring ownership and promotion of deregulation and competition, is one of the most important economic phenomena of recent decades. Most of the empirical studies comparing the efficiency before and after privatization and conclude that improvement. However, we found a significant constraint on studies: have not analyzed the strategic and organizational changes that will take place after the change of ownership. Studying these internal changes is key because the privatization generate externalities such as greater entrepreneurship (entrepreneurship), which may have been constrained by the public nature of the organization. Therefore, in this Doctoral Thesis trying to answer four questions: (1) Do you Companies after privatization is more efficient? (2) Do you Companies after privatization are more entrepreneurial? (3) Â What role played by the degree of competition in the change in entrepreneurship after privatization? (4) Do you change in the level of competition and entrepreneurship after privatization explain the improvement in efficiency? The empirical study conducted on a sample of 40 privatized companies in Spain from 1985 to 2001 compared with three years earlier, three years after privatization. The results show, first, that after privatization companies improve sales per employee while the economic and financial performance does not improve. On the other hand, that after privatization companies are more entrepreneurial in terms of product innovation, and organizational process, entry into new markets and businesses, and domestic and foreign strategic renewal processes. Lastly, as regards the effect of the level of competition, as measured by the hostility of the sector, the results are conflicting. While hostility competitive if force companies to be more entrepreneurial, market and technological hostility has no effect. The small sample size prevented us from contrasting empirically the effect of hostility in the industry and entrepreneurship of the company on efficiency.

Based on this review presents a theoretical model itself on agile manufacturing-related turbulence environment, the practices of agile manufacturing, the strength in manufacturing and the outcome of negocio. Finally, empirical research conducted (which combines the methodology of the case study and survey postcard) obtains evidence on the methods, systems and tools that facilitate agile manufacturing in Spain and its effect on the outcome of the business as a measure of the degree competitive. To this end there are two stages with different objectives and methodologies but clearly complementary. On the one hand, using the methodology of the case study research achieves an initial approximation to the reality of agile manufacturing in Spain, which serves to further develop the theoretical model and derive proportions research. On the other hand, using the methodology of the postcard found, the investigation validates the proposed model and contrasts the assumptions set out in a sample of Spanish manufacturers. The data processing was done by the methodology of structural equations. Our results indicate that, motivated by the turbulence of the environment, the development of agile manufacturing generates a strength in manufacturing which derive competitive advantage for the company.

Summary: The argument starts from the premise of the lack of uniformly accepted models to analyze the relationship between the techniques of Knowledge Management and competitiveness of an organization. In recent years have seen various models that have some points in common and differ in their degree of complexity, adaptability and pragmatism. It will proceed to the critique of the various existing models to provide a vision innovative and tailored to the distinctive characteristics of local authorities. Through a modeling based on the models Structural Equations (MEE) have analyzed the relationship between the pillars of Knowledge Management and the different components identified in the competitiveness of a city: economic, urbano-institucional, socio and strategically. After the theoretical part, a study Delphi counting on the participation of 23 national experts pair validation questionnaire. Subsequently, a case study in the Border Network of Cities of Knowledge "KOGNOPOLISÂ ©".
