Summary: The systems of tranvitrén (tram-train) are an advanced version of the light rail systems in the sense that, using similar vehicles, with some modifications, can be performed using both metropolitan transport networks tranviarias typical of cities such as conventional rail networks, without eliminating any of them traffic for which they were originally designed (or rail tramway, respectively). This thesis is, in a first, a study of systems of tranvitrén existenetes at present, or under study or project, in various European cities, paying particular attention to the technical problems that arise in the implementation of such systems, and how to resolve them on farms considered. In a second phase deals with the study of specific technical problems involving the introduction of such systems in Spain, using the rail lines FEVE (Railways Route Close). These problems are mainly the following: structural strength of the box; power to the vehicle safety systems and communications access for passengers; profile rim, and gauge. In each of these problems he devotes a chapter, which raises their origin, the various options that are technically feasible solution, and highlights those that are most appropriate for the particular case at issue in this thesis. The chapter on the rim profile is an exception to this generic approach, as the answer depends on the railway lines tranviarias and concrete intended to be used for the operation in question. That is why, in that chapter, has been establishing a methodology for generic application to obtain a profile tire for improved circulation combined on two different types of networks (which, in the case will be tried in this thesis the tranviaria conventional rail and FEVE).
