Summary: It covers the evolution of the methodology used in the delineation of chimneys in layers of coal. Analyzes coal reserves of the central basin of Asturias, in order to establish which of them should be exploited by methods which require the prior layout and chimneys which are prone to develop phenomena gasodinámicos. Collects statistics of accidents in the Asturian coal mining, particularly those related to chimneys. It describes the genesis of a team to the route descending chimney, without prior survey, as well as tests in the test stand and in the mine. Make a comparative analysis of the results of the tests, both in terms of performance and ergonomic parameters, which have been derived by conventional methods. Finally, it sets out a series of conclusions that show the significant improvements which are obtained with the use of equipment designed and are marked guidelines for future action, aimed at upgrading the hardware.
