  • INFLUENCE OF THE HUMAN FACTOR IN THE PREVENTION OF OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS IN QUARRIES IN CATALONIA

    Summary: The casualty companies opencast mining in Catalonia, even declined, still has room for improvement until rates similar to those of other European Union countries. In this paper presents a doctoral study of the risks they are under the quarry workers, the influence of the human factor and the consequences caused by psychosocial risks, through a detailed study of sixteen quarries located in each of the four provinces of Catalonia. This work by its originality can complement the National Survey of Working Conditions of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Spain and Surveys on Labor Conditions of the European Agency for Health and Health at Work, since in these surveys are not covered specifically in the extractive industries. Block 1 of the thesis covers the accident in Europe, Spain and Catalonia, in general and in quarries Catalan in particular. It analyzes the economic costs of non-prevention and proposes a methodology for carrying out the objectives of the investigation. In Block 2, identifies various working groups at the global level on occupational hazards in quarries, as well as various European authors who have conducted studies on bullying at work and discusses the safety of the mine after being exploited. In boque 3, analytical in nature, are raised and resolved four scenarios on safety and regulatory compliance work in quarries, which were statistically analyzed the responses of employees and employers in response to questionnaires . The block 4, also analytical in nature, he examines and verifies the fifth hypotheses about the influence of the human factor in accidents at work in quarries. Block 6 is devoted to the findings, recommended a proposal by the improvement and intends to monitor the investigation. Blocks 6 and 7 are devoted to the literature used in this study already existing legislation to directly affect mining. Block 8 is composed of annexes where you can watch the different questionnaires concerning the regulation of Basic Safety Standards and the Mining Law 31/1995, on November 8, Occupational Hazard Prevention.
