Summary: This dissertation examines, from an approach of Science Policy and Administration. The implications of the concept of Local Development, the history of Local Development in Spain, setting legal Local Development, the institutional position of local entities in the system of Intergovernmental Relations and local governance in Spain, the phases of public policies Local Development (from the European Community and national). was finally carried out a case study in which examines all these aspects, empirically, in the Local Development Agencies Local Body of the province of Alicante taking a representative sample (obeying county geographically, typologies demographic and socio-economic specialization).
