Summary: The thesis discusses the origin, history, socio-economic situation and political developments in the Palestinian Arab minority in Israel, the so-called Israeli Arabs or Palestinians of 48. This population, a descendant of the native population and shared identity with other Palestinians, has always been marginalized and is a group of second-class citizens in Israel. The thesis is confirmed the validity of three propositions: 1) the presence of the Israeli Palestinian minority is a specific dimension of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has evolved, largely under the influence of the latter; 2) the peace process lived in the nineties has not contributed as expected, to the normalization of the minority, in contrast, has operated a significant deterioration of relations interéctnicas and between minority and the state: and 3) the political resolution the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that seeks lasting peace must inevitably address this dimension, which involves a redefinition same (constitutional overhaul) of the State of Israel.
