Summary: This thesis focuses on the figure of Simone de Beauvoir and the vital contribution she has made in developing one of the most fruitful areas of research in the twentieth century and, undoubtedly, will remain in the twenty-first century: Feminist Theory. This paper is divided into three parts: 1) Issues hermeneutics: delimitation of the scope of research sex / gender this part has three chapters: the first seeks to establish the difference between sex (biological determination) and gender (social construction); second, a tour of literary biography and Simone de Beauvoir, and the third was bet on the idea that it makes use hermeneutics of suspicion thereby overcoming the hermeneutics existentialist. 2) The double dimension sex / gender and its implications in the construction of female identity. This second part is divided into two chapters, which try to reflect on what it means to be a female subject on its compression as the Other and the importance of the body's own experience as a tool that builds one's own identity. 3) The legacy of Simone de Beauvoir in the French feminism. The third part takes place in two chapters. The first gives a brief history on the evolution and development of contemporary feminism, and the second is a tour of the movements and French authors considered to be most representative and heir to Simone de Beauvoir. The thesis concludes with a bibliographical appendix, which includes both primary and secondary sources of these heirs of Simone de Beauvoir. Moreover, because some chapters establishing a relationship between author and Simone Weil and Hannah Arendt also includes a bibliography of these authors.
