PERCEPTIONS OF THE INFORMATION PROCESS OF ADOLESCENTS WITH CANCERSummary: This thesis deals with the intrinsic value that is the information as a way to respect the autonomy of adolescent minors, suffering from a chronic disease and potentially fatal, as is cancer. The objective is to analyze how adolescents perceive and develop the information on the disease. Consistent with this objective, choosing and using a research methodology of a qualitative nature, which explores this issue from the perspective of the patients themselves. We 24 semi-structured interviews in two hospitals in Madrid, were recorded on tapes, was transcribed in computerized, were coded and analyzed. The role of different informants (doctors and parents), the use of vocabulary, the criteria of gravity produced by the patients themselves, their perception of time, and the criteria of normality Bio appear to be central to the patients involved. It concludes that the supply of information is a key to respecting the autonomy of patients, regardless of whether or not they can then make autonomous decisions. Adolescents seeking information on their medical condition to give meaning to their experience of illness, to rebuild their personal identity, and able to guide this reality. Summary: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease with clinical and pathologic features themselves that is closely related to age. It is a very heterogeneous entity with common variations clinics including age of onset, rate of progression, neuropsychological patterns and the presence of symptoms neuorpsiquiátricos. The objectives of this study are to determine and describe the reasons that have geriatricians Spaniards in pursuing artificial feeding in Alzheimer's when it arrives at its final phase in which it is impossible to swallow. It is therefore to make decisions of life and death and this has resulted in numerous ethical dilemmas calving whose aims clarifying this dissertation. MATERIALS AND METHODS The universe of study rests with the members of the yearbook of the Spanish Society for Geriatrics and Gerontology in 1998 in the Madrid (477). We used a questionnaire consisting of 7 items demographic (sex, age, educational background, job title, years of antigà ¼ age in office, characteristics of the institution religious beliefs) and 25 items on the subject of the investigation. A pretest was conducted with an initial sample of 95 respondents selected by systematic random sampling. The application of the scale was conducted in two phases in which questionnaires were sent to all members of the SEGG de la Comunidad de Madrid (477 excluding those surveyed in the pilot application 95: 382) achieved a level of response of 63 respondents (15.75%). It made a second shipment in replying 20, making a total of 83 completed questionnaires (21.7%). The items were processed in Excel system that was later analyzed with the package SPSS version 12.0. The statistical techniques used in the argument are limited to: descriptive analysis: average, standard deviation, fashion, analysis on verification of hypotheses: mean difference test, the test of "chi-square," analysis of the matrix of bivariate correlations (Pearson ) and multidimensional analysis: analysis of conglomerates, factor analysis with rotation VARIMAX. RESULTS several items that were identified following the matrix of correlations and factor analysis cluster saturaban seven factors structured as follows: -Factor 1: recovery aware of the activity (item 26, item 25, item 17, item 12, item 21 , item 9). - Factor 2: euthanasia: (item 19, item 15, item 29, item 13). - Factor 3: Value of biological life (item 20, item 22). - Factor 4: medical paternalism (item 30, item 16). - Factor 5: difficulty of implementing informed consent (item 16, item 8). - Factor 6: regular / special (item 23, item 14). - Factor 7: the psychological suffering of the relatives (item 28). Conclusions The results of this study demonstrates the need to establish health professionals dedicated to the care of Alzehimer training programs in ethics, group analysis and discussion of problems in situations morally troubled.
