  • THEORETICAL MODELS AND KNOWLEDGE REPRESENTATION

    Summary: In this dissertation rejecting a scientific model is a copy, replica or imitation of the physical phenomenon he represents, or offering some kind of "similarity" with some of its aspects. Instead, they argue that a theoretical model is a synthesis of a phenomenon, understood as a rational reconstruction of the information available, as an explanatory principle dela observable reality, as an explanatory principle of observable reality, as the mathematical expression shorter and exact describes what is known so far of a particular phenomenon, which was built from a series of statements (equations) theoretical and observational accepted and reliable, and whose usefulness lies in the prediction (using a calculation deductive) for new formulas and measures of reality. I defend the truth in science is a convection, "be true", until the increase in detail because the best technology (technical and theoretical) of the measuring instruments requires greater precision. The scientific rationality is a dual process of systematization of reality; on the one hand, the unification of knowledge in broader formulas; on the other hand, diversification through research in new areas. Then I maintain a double justification, empirical and theoretical models of, which would rationally choose between two models capable of generating the same results in a given observation domain. In short, scientific progress is to articulate (no stacking) what is already known from the new information to be discovered. The truth is a matter of detail, and scientists schemes, through which the world rationally rebuild from a series of measures, can be changed and improved, without entailing greater approximation to a system where ultimate reality science stop.     Summary: This thesis discusses the idea propensity Popper. The discussion has focused criticism from commentators. In particular the statement of the theory propensional teacher FETZER: systems such as those in the mecáncia statistic or the launch of the currency are epistémicamente indeterministas but --- deterministic. According to Fetzer, these systems are not unique propensities case.
