Summary: Mobility is a characteristic inherent in the people: to conduct their daily activities such as work or study, make purchases or enjoy free time or a secondary residence, individuals move through an area roughly bounded. For this reason, the assumption of the doctoral thesis is that people, because of their mobility daily, contact with the different territories that establish some kind of linkage, according to the type of activity being carried out, length of stay, etc.. The analysis focuses, on the basis of data from the population census of 2001, in mobility for work, study or for the availability of a secondary residence of the Catalan population, with a twofold purpose: first, from the point of Given the territory to determine the number of people who frequent although not residing therein ( "linked population), and on the other, to identify the" living space "of the people, namely the space used in their chores everyday. The analysis developed is therefore geographic (taking as a unit of analysis municipalities in Catalonia) and demographic, according to the socio-demographic characteristics of both individual character (age, sex, marital status, level of education, under activity), home (tenure of housing, type of household, and so on.).
