Summary: The coastal environment is among the most fragile ecosystems and management of large complex environmental systems on the planet. Many factors have lead to the achievement of a balanced and sustained development potential in the coastal environment in general both from the perspective of the physical environment and the socio-economic aspects in the narrow and fragile coastal strip takes place. This issue has been at the center of a long-living discussion in all major conferences in which they have raised environmental issues and sustainable development have been identified as one of the priority areas to develop integrated management programs that combine efforts institutions and governments to ensure the maintenance of allowable conditions for the development of economic activities that do not sacrifice its own resources of the natural environment and man-made. In this change, the areas in Europe are subject to greater pressure antrópica are in the middle Atlantic orla Mediterranean, where the fragile natural environment joined the extraordinary conditions of exploitation and pressure from coastal environment due to a change in the land uses that have resulted in half hardly manageable from a proactive position and where management measures have traditionally assimilated to the protection and defense of the coastline. It is in this environment that this work has identified three places of study enough variety to be representative of various stages of development. In the Doctoral Thesis have objectives they were intended to provide the manager and planner of the coastal territory of powerful tools to better understand the environment and the socio-economic implications of possible policies. In this context, the thesis begins by conducting a thorough step with the theme through an introduction of the concept of resilience in the context of the analysis of physical capacity, vulnerability and sensitivity physical and socio-economic continue with a description in the context of socio-economic development of representative areas of study. In central and greater contribution to the thesis arises methodological development in which prepares an evaluation tool of the coastal resilience that is introduced according to the following phases: * Identifying indicators for the state and trend characterization of the coastal environment of the three areas studied. * Calculation of indicators and construction of a GIS in spatial data. * Evaluation of the indicators in terms of their resilience factor. * Combination in the GIS indicators and construction of cartographic database. Finally, after a meticulous and productive description of the results obtained and mapped, it gives way to a final chapter where the main ideas are discussed from both the conceptual issues as methodologies addressed at Work. Summary: The Doctoral thesis presents a spatial analysis, economic and social reconstruction of the Gulf of Fonseca, treated as a geographical unit interstate (shared by El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua). There are three national units that share the Gulf of Fonseca, a situation which explains the processes of integration that, increasingly, are gaining greater importance in the Central American region. Since it is shown phenomena at the global level, the territorial analysis has been raised from different scales. Research carried out in this work has focused on such entities and the relationships between them. One could speak of the Gulf of Fonseca as an area of international multiple interactions in which borders are being felt on a permanent cultural identities, activities, projects and expectations of the majority population. Therefore, the methodology applied in the course of work has been designed to analyze the phenomena geographical features to discover and explain the relationship between these elements. It has been obtained as a result diagnosis of the region as integrated system. The work is divided into four parts which are subdivided into eleven chapters: PART ONE is the corresponding chapter 1. It has an introductory character. This paper describes the theoretical methodological justification. It includes sections devoted to the description of the research, with references to theoretical and methodological framework. It gives a brief description of the object of study. SECOND PART The conceptual framework and territorial was framed in this part, in the theories of globalization and the various regional integration initiatives undertaken in Latin America. It has focused on the measures are aimed at achieving sustained development and greater integration competitive internationally. IMAGE TOURIST CANARIES: SEMIOTIC STUDY, COMMUNICATIVE AND TRANSLATION.Author: NAVARRO MONTESDEOCA GUILLERMO RAÚL. Year: 2005. University: LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA. Place of defense: FACULTAD DE GEOGRAFÍA E HISTORIA. Place of preparation: FACULTAD DE GEOGRAFÍA E HISTORIA. Summary: Tourism is a complex phenomenon whose overall understanding can only be from a transdisciplinarity. The tourist image is part of the phenomenon public holidays, and he influenced is influenced by him. Therefore, knowing what is the image promotional, how is built and what the implications helps to understand and control the phenomenon of global tourism. In the Canaries, tourism, in connection with the Canary own identity by its huge impact on the socio-economy of the archipelago, has a public image determined by the history and the administrative structure (autonomous community, town council, town hall), among other factors. For one thing, history has given an image that naturally follows exploited, and on the other, administrations, without sacrificing the natural look, segment the image of the destination, increasing the supply of services, influenced by the globalization process. In any case, in a general way, the local population or resident is excluded from the promotional image of the archipelago. The exclusion of the local population of the Canary image is related to the system itself canary tourism, introducing structural imbalances. The image, communication, translation, semiotics are a tool that identifies these imbalances and allow affect more sustainable development LIKELIHOOD OF FLOODING AND LAND-USE PLANNING IN THE COASTAL ALICANTE.Author: GIMÉNEZ FERRER JOSÉ MANUEL. Year: 2005. University: ALICANTE. Place of defense: UNIVERSIDAD DE ALICANTE. Place of preparation: INSTITUTO UNIVERSITARIO DE GEOGRAFÍA.
Summary: The method of work handled in the investigation Likelihood of flooding and land-use planning in the coastal Alicante focuses on dialectical basic geographical science. The always current confrontation between supporters of investigating a physical geography, those who advocate human knowledge of patterns and territorial, including those who seek to integrate what they systematically within the regional analysis, permeates much of the geographic research taking place in the Spanish university. Without ever losing sight of the necessary multidisciplinarity inherent in the study of the processes of risk, it is true that the prospect of a comprehensive and integrated geography shapes a method of work of great potential analytical and disciplines that few possess the ability to synthesize territorialemnte all the social and environmental aspects which, by definition, are decisive in any situation of natural hazard. Knowledge of the territories at risk involves the analysis of issues geographical, ecological, biological, geological, social, legal, economic, sociological, historical, mathematical, physical, chemical, engineering, architectural, medical, and even civil defense and military which are very diverse branches of knowledge that can provide information for effective diagnosis of the process at risk. But it has to delve into the idea that, within the discipline itself geographic analysis of the natural hazard and the vulnerability that determines the degree of risk of a territory to a particular phenomenon, is a point of inescapable meeting of the different areas of geographical knowledge. Only from a very comprehensive and thorough knowledge of the environment and society that inhabits a territory, it is possible to get to know, operationally, areas of riesgo.Ésta is filosfía behind this doctoral research. The study of the risk of flooding and coastal avenue in Alicante addresses from a perspective that bet, decidedly, not only because of the integration of the branches of geographical knowledge in a geography of risks overall, comprehensive and applied, but such integration tambíen it has to be done by the management of the doctrine of different geographical paradigms that make geography discipline necessary in the world today. And this is not a position nor ecléptica nor conciliatory, but part of the premises of any applied research: the operational capability and usefulness social.Los goals that guide this research can be summarized in response to the series of key issues which aim to clarify the of course the same. First, Do you is the risk of flooding avenue and a geographic specific to the dynamics of Alicante coast?. Proceeding from the fact that this is a reality constrastada, Â Is the integration of human and physical analysis of the territory on the basis of achieving a "Región-Riesgo flood and avenue" in the coastal alciantino, consituye working method useful in the analysis of that risk?. Determined these questions, through the analysis of the hazardous weather and hidromorfolígica coastal alicanitno is facing slope applied more: an analysis of the causal mechanisms in the genesis of flood risk areas and avendia in the coastal municipalities of the province of Alicante . And this on the assumption that fundamental work by advocates to urban planning, and the legislative framework within which it is based and has evolved historically, as a principal in the genesis of flood risk areas and in the street coast Alicante. This is one of the pillars on which this research is based. It is not enough to determining the existence of a genuine región-riesgo ....
