Summary: Analysis of a major manuscript of the early seventeenth century: Comments by John Velez to the 'Construction mathematical' Ptolemy, which represents the Spanish version of Almagest with a rich gloss that complements the text alejandrino with the latest advances in astronomy from the time: Copernicus, Kepler and Brahe. This has led to the balance of copernicanismo in SIglo Golden Spanish from a unique perspective.

Summary: The paper analyzes the Treaty on Projection Ray, the work of mathematician, astronomer and cadi of Jaen Ibn Muád al-Yayyani (m.1093). This text discusses the mathematical aspects of the doctrine known as astrological division of houses and system aspects (projection ray, in the ancient and medieval traditions), based on the principle that both practices share the same basic theoretical, mathematical and geometric. Ibn Maud presents computational procedures appropriate to lso above purposes and analyzes various procedures used by his predecessors, offering an analysis of the practice of astrology in the eleventh century. The text had been the subject of previous studies in part by Kennedy and Hogendijk, who edited and translated into English a passage from the book. Based on these studies and other key references to the history of mathematics applied to the medieval astrology, the current study examines various aspects mathematical, and historical terminology that relate to the text of Ibn Muad and astrological tradition that fits this work. In response to both the practices mentioned Ibn Muad (division of houses and projection ray) as a third astrological practice, which it shares with the many elements of his previous mathematical interpretation (tasyir or system progressions), containing information on the various calculation methods used by medieval astrologers, paying particular attention to modes of resolution applied to the three above-mentioned practices: astronomical instruments, tables and calculation algorithms. The appendices include the editing and translation of the text of Ibn Muad, the translation of a passage from Qámun of al-Biruni which describes a procedure for the projection ray, the recalculation of a table for the same purpose compiled by Ibn Azzuz al-Quasantini and the editing and translation of the text that accompanies this table.
