THE ANOREXIA NERVOSA IN HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE, A CASE STUDY: HOLY CATALINA FROM SIENA (1347-1380)Summary: The study of this thesis is an approximation to the historical personage -Santa Catalina- and from this perspective showing the suffering of the disease -anorexia nerviosa- from the medical point of view. The work is structured as follows: * Analysis of the historical moment, the structure social-patrialcal, the political situation in Italy from the fourteenth century, the influence religiosas-filosóficas in everyday life. * The role of women in medieval society: roles of the family, social and cultural development. Meaning of the various statements civilians. * Study of Anorexia Nervosa: definition, diagnostic criteria and interpretation psychotherapy. * Based on the original texts dictated by Santa Catalina and conducting a simultaneous biographical journey is a comprehensive study of these texts in order to find data evident that we are faced with a case of anorexia nervosa. Study it: psychological profile, intuitive intelligence, adolescent struggles against femininity, sexuality and maternity relationship with the mother and with the feminine role: temptations, feelings of guilt, mortifications, meaning ascetic and relationship with anorexia nervosa.
