Summary: It is mostly based on his opinion now to devise educational materials as part of the key elements that facilitates the learning and teaching of a language. Beside that also notes the teacher as the true connoisseur of reality and needs of recipient subject of education to which it relates, thus becoming essential elements to perceive and meet them, not only by subordinating the materials with their work and approach but giving jurisdiction to evaluate, change and adapt, even for rehusarlos and create their own alternative. Therefore much of the theoretical discourse leads to teachers develop educational materials, while educational practice seems ajustares use of the textbook, with books and other resource materials as modern analogues complementary. Work has been designed with two main purposes: the first theoretical, dedicated to the status of the issue of MMDDD, developing them as well as the study of the three constituent parts, evaluate, adapt and the creation of educational materials for teachers. The second, empirical, is dedicated to the views of trainers of primary school teachers in Spain, specializing in English, on the development of MMDD in conjunction with their own teaching practice.

Summary: This research examines the relationship between the evolution of contemporary Pragmática from Austin to the present, and the treatment it receives the functional content in the documents governing the teaching of foreign languages in the European context: repertoires nocio-funcionales Council Europe. In the first part of the work discusses the three main models repertoire nocio-funcional: the one that appeared Threshold Level of 1975, the last Threshold Level 1990, and French repertoire, Niveau Seuil, 1976. These three codes agree on its objectives but differ considerably in terms of the paths that each continues to select, organize and present content functional. The second part reviews the evolution of Pragmatics paying special attention to the concept of the act of speaking, the question taxonomy and the three dimensions of communication that can be distinguished in the development of the discipline: the intentional dimension, the social and discursive. In a comparative analysis demonstrates the identity of the two main units of analysis in the two fields: the act of speaking and communicative function, as well as the lack of harmony in the development of both. The concept of current communicative function is a design reflecting the close of the unit pragmatic appears in the early versions of the theory of speech acts standard. As a result, codes nocio-funcionales are stuck in the sixties of the past century. The cause of this situation is the very uncertainty of the concept of the act of speaking, along with the absence of a global perspective of the communication. The solution to these problems, which arise in theory and demonstrate in practice, is the author of the proposal for further research.

Summary: The interjection is a difficult category, that difficulty is reflected even in the very etymology of the word 'interjection. One of the major problems that has raised his study is the relationship it maintains with prayer. The interjection could not consider a sentence, given that no sign of preaching. We consider a statement when owns self communicative and, when no such self-reliance, defined as a constituent extra-clausal (Dik, 1989, 1997). Another problematic aspect of the interjection is his meaning. We started from the communication model of the Theory of Relevancy exposed in Sperber and Wilson (1986) to determine that the information encoded procedural interjections. For Halliday (1985), in the texts, can differentiate three meanings: 1) ideational; 2) interpersonal, and 3) textual. In connection with this idea believe that the interjections encoding three types of instructions processing agreement with the interpersonal and textual meanings. According to the meaning interpersonal, interjections express processing instructions that deal with two different kinds of relationships between the speaker and context (meaning modal), and between speaker and listener (meaning interaccional). Depending on the textual meaning, interjections express processing instructions that have to do with the relationship between different parts of the text (meaning textual). In connection with these three types of instruction processing, we believe that the interjection plays in the communication three possible functions: modal interaccional and textual. Divide the latter role in textual-organizativa when interjections organize text, and textual-cohesiva when interjections function as cohesive elements between different parts of the text-as Fillers expletivas when relate different parts of the same intervention because as connectors continuativos when two different relate. Another controversial point in the study of interjection is his ranking. We propose classifying interjections starting in the first place, its nature categorial, own and improper, and, secondly, based on the role played more regularly in communication -modal, interaccional and textual-. We distinguish, in connection with the latter criterion, three types of interjections: Manners, interaccionales and textual. Given that the values of the interjections are frequently mixed in communication, we have implemented the concepts of core and periphery of the lingüstica not discrete, or what is known most recently as the theory of prototypes, in his study. We believe that the present value interjections nuclear who can be seen more clearly, to which you can add other peripherals values. Also, we apply such concepts to the study of the same interjections. We believe that those capable of performing all three functions here differentiate -modal, interaccional and textual- be considered nuclear or prototype, while those that can play only 'one or two of these functions would be peripheral. The fact that some interjections can play three roles and others, however, play two or only one may be a process gramaticalización. From a practical standpoint, we have applied the theory after studying the interjections ah, eh, and woe, interjections own that differ in that ah interjection is a function primarily textual, eh interjection is a function primarily interaccional, and woe interjection is a function mainly modal. We have differentiated also a prototype meaning in each of them that has remained constant, more or less explicitly, in all its uses. The meaning of prototype is textual - ah 'realize algo'-, is interaccional of pe-`appeal or llamada'-, and the woe-is modal' general expression of a feeling negativo'-. Often the interjections have been identified with a group of items 8 cough: 3ef onomatopoeia, ideófono, vocativo, the imperative, formulas, Fillers, discourse markers and deictics. In all cases we face marginal elements that share certain characteristics, however, careful study shows that, despite their similarities, these elements do not belong to the category interactive.

Summary: If the distinction between English for specific purposes and English for academic purposes involves a complexity that leaves no room for doubt, virtually the same thing happens when trying to frame the discipline at hand, namely English for purposes of employment. This study takes a look at the different aspects of English for specific purposes, and in particular focuses on the fact that the language used was presumably learned in a labor eminently more concrete. The teaching-learning process takes place in the IFL situations in which students, future professionals require and need to resort to English as part of their job or employment status.

Taking gender analysis as a theoretical framework (Swales, 1990, Bhatia, 1993), the study aims to demonstrate that the site of a bank has become a new member of the colony gender promotional live on the Internet today. Following the wake of a study conducted earlier (Alberola, 2000), which presented the booklet banking as a possible gender promotional due to a macro-estructura prototype and a series of rhetorical resources characteristic of the genre, this thesis also inside the bank website, which could be regarded as the most complex digital version of the brochure printed to determine their macro-estructura and stylistic resources to be used to achieve the main communicative purpose behind this document: persuasion customer . The results of the analysis of total corpus and comparative analysis, which is divided into two categories bank s (traditional banks in the network and new virtual banks) and two nationalities (USA / UK), pointed to the standardization of both the website on the surface, or 'level 0' (where is located the home page or homepage) as at the level I draw or 'level -1' (a 'click' on the homepage, which are the main sections of the web) . Both levels have a prototype structure that excel in a series of moves blocks, which in turn are flanked by a series of rhetorical elements

Summary: The ecology, which examines the complex interrelationships and processes that determine the conditions for life on our planet, is a relatively recent introduction of science. At its conception is transdisciplinary, and its thematic covers aspects of global relevance. Therefore, an important factor in their advancement is the language or languages that are used to disseminate new knowledge on the subject, as well as the use of language that enables effective communication among members of the scientific community, but also provide receiving information from other disciplines and groups. In turn, lingüstica textual contrastive, another scientific branch with a history of only a few decades younger even more that ecología-, includes among its focus in the investigation of specialty languages in different languages, comparing between they and studying the implications of this for deriving the teaching and translation of these specialty languages. This dissertation pursues a thematic and conceptual integration of the two disciplines on the responsibility is attributed by the person who produces the texts as they reflected his scientific work, but are bound by the conventions of a scientific-oriented style the facts rather than processes and the personal intervention. To this end, we have analyzed individually and so contrastive thirty scientific articles from the fields of aquatic ecology and equal parts written in Spanish, English and German, respectively. The statement summarizes the theoretical framework of the development of concepts essential lingüstica textual contrastive and ecology. It focuses particularly on those aspects that highlight the 'human factor' and their relationship to the practice of science, as well as the interrelationships between ecology and lingüstica. In this context also includes a section on ecolingüstica in its two strands of ecology lingüstica and lingüstica ecological. The analysis of selected texts begins with a study of the extent and segmentation as external aspects of the articles in that the physical environment in which they are deployed internal features of the texts. Here are tracing the footsteps personal, ie the degree of identification of the authors and perpetrators and their degree of presence in the text using the first person and other resources. The cardinal part of the analysis of the footprints personal is dedicated to the study of qualitative and quantitative terms in which those expressing an opinion or positioning (academic or personal) who signs the article. It is in this area where we see the commitment of the person to your job, on a scale ranging from the simple statement of the results of tests and measurements, thus leaving the data "speak for themselves" and that other people interpret and valued until the deployment of theories, assumptions and even imperatives arising from the study. We completed the analysis with two aspects of a social nature relating to the authors of our texts: their ability to exchange scientific content expressed in different languages, and use of certain elements (signs and / or words) to ensure understanding the content of his article without ambigà ¼ ages and with greater ease. We concluded that the issues explored in the genre of scientific papers presented significant differences related to the environment lingüstico-cultual and academic tradition, however, and contrary to what one might expect, ecology is not disclosed as a discipline of greater personal involvement other natural sciences. It would be desirable to fully explore the relationship lingüstica between ecology and those who investigate it.

Summary: This dissertation is to contribute to the advancement of Historiography Lingüstica by developing a comprehensive analysis of ideas about language and the languages recorded in the writings of the former Jesuit Cuenca Lorenzo Hervas and Panduro (1735-1809), from the comment on the context in which the polygraph conducts its investigations, the review of key thematic clusters discovered in the texts hervasianos, to shed light on the sources and critical review of the methodology employed by the scholar and the evaluation of results earned about each topic. Therefore, the overriding objective of this work lies in trying to systematize the contributions of Don Lorenzo knowledge of the language and the languages and assess their merit and impact in the history of thought lingüstico. The assumptions on the ideas lingüsticas of Hervas Panduro and raised in three blocks: the first part (Chapters 1-3) shows the state of affairs in studies on the former Jesuit and put the figure of the abbot and his work in context to conclude with the enunciation of the links found between treaties compounds by Don Lorenzo and the main lines of research on language and the languages promoted over the eighteenth century, the second section (Chapter 4) focuses on sample of views hervasianas on the genesis lingüstica and other issues during the century illustrated often addressed in the context of the debate on the origin of language; in the last block (Chapters 5-10) analyzes the comments of Cuenca on the languages of world, on the one hand those for comparison, its documentation and the subsequent establishment of families lingüsticas, and the other in these texts and Hervas Panduro writes for describing, comparing grammar or teach certain languages. This approach is complemented by the treatment of a cross to the previous definition of the terminology used by former Jesuit prior to the review of those ideas that affects or is concerned.
  • LANGUAGE AWARENESS IN PRE-TEACHER EDUCATION: FOCUSING ON LANGUAGE, TEACHING AND LEARNING IN UNIVERSITY LANGUAGE COURSES ADDRESSED TO ENGLISH MAJORS

Place of preparation: UNIVERSITAT DE LLEIDA.
Summary: This study focuses on language awareness in university language courses that form part of the English Studies degree programme, the relevant degree in the training of secondary school language teachers in Spain. Language awareness plays an important role for language learners in general, and it is even more the case for those who are training as foreign language teachers and experts. This study focuses specifically on language courses for two reasons. First, language improvement is a priority for these students, given their academic and professional orientation. Second, because of their university context, these courses lend themselves to the integration of different types of language-related competences, which are addressed in other courses of the same degree (e.g. linguistics and ELT methodology courses). This integration of competences coincides with a view of professional language awareness which involves the capacity of fulfilling the roles of language user, language analyst and teacher (Edge, 1988; Wright, 1991, 2002). Apart from that, university language courses can also be considered to form part of the 'apprenticeship of observation' (Lortie, 1975) of future language teachers, as students are exposed to certain models and views of language and learning. Therefore, this study explores how language awareness is approached in university language courses of the ES degree. Specifically, it aims to find out how metalinguistic activity is carried out in the classroom, the language topics that are object of reflection and the metalanguage used, and the models of language and learning that are more or less explicitly transmitted. Using mainly a qualitative methodology that draws on the tenets of ethnography and discourse analysis, this study is based on classroom observation and interviews with instructors and students. The analysis of these data has yielded insights into what participants do and what their views are in relation to language and learning. This study has shown that language awareness plays a key role in these courses and has revealed different approaches in its implementation. It has also shed light on the processes that participants use when carrying out metalinguistic activity through interaction and has proposed a taxonomy for its analysis. It has also revealed how both lecturers and students relate language improvement to the sophisticated metalinguistic skills that professional language learners need.

The internal structure of the work begins with the statement in chapter one picture desk at which the neología. In the second delos chapters describes the methodology applied to the collection of the terms and structure that conforms each sheet terminology. The third chapter contains an analysis of all processes used and found in the glossary that make up the corpus and the neologisms we compare our database with those on others such as the Corpus Reference Spanish Present, and the Dictionary's Voices Using Actual in its two editions to make possible reasons for the Spanish Royal Academy for not including in his leadership. It concludes with a brief conclusion in which shows the most important results of the investigation. As appendix provide the database with all pieces of neologisms with whom we have worked and which we based (format ASCIII). Summary: This work consists of a multidisciplinary analysis of the instructive genres verbal and graphic discourse referred to personal physical activity and sport. These two genres are extensively used by their discourse community: measurement tests of physical fitness and training personal programmes. Prior to the mentioned analysis, a verification of the condition of real linguistic genres is carried out concluding that they adapt to the structure conventions of genre ans that their characteristics fit the definition of genres as well (Swales, 1990; Bathia, 1993; Paltridge, 1997). This work aims to deal with the study of the instructive genres of EPAS in depth. For this reason, it is not limited to the formal structure, but to the social context in which communication occurs. Thus, the main rethorical functions are also studied, the way the adapt to the audience, the observable sociolinguistic and cognitive strategies to achieve a determined goal in communication, and the structural characteristics. It is worth nothing the use of images, graphics and visual metaphors in the texts to achieve effectiveness in the message and strong interaction between author and reader. KEY WORDS: discourse analysis, linguistic genre, English for specific purposes, English for physical activity and sport, sociolinguistics, visual metaphor, physical activity and sport lexis.

Summary: In this dissertation is structurally and functionally characterize the genes involved in development and activity centers brain responsible for language processing, paying special attention to the nature of the disruption of nature lingüstica caused by the mutation. The genes analyzed in this study could be classified in accordance with the nature and role of biochemical products encoding, which may include: (i) Basic brain metabolism enzymes, (ii) membrane transporters (or proteins associated with them ), (iii) or structural proteins involved in cellular metabolism core (including the regulation of the functioning of the cellular cytoskeleton), (iv) proteins involved in the interaction célula-célula (including accession and recognition between neurons), (v ) extracellular signaling proteins (vi) membrane receptors, (vii) components of signal transduction channels (excluding membrane receptors), and (viii) regulators of gene expression (including factors transcripcionales, regulators traduccionales, proteins interaction with DNA and ARNnc). In the same way, and depending on the histological and physiological implications of the activity carried out by their products, such genes could be classified into (i) regulatory cerebral metabolism, (ii) regulators basic cellular processes, (iii) regulating cellular processes the specific neuron, (iv) regulatory proliferation and neuronal migration, (v) regulating the sinaptogénesis and axonogénesis (vi) regulatory identity and / or neural functionality, and (vii) regulatory processes of brain basic. In this dissertation, and wanting to reevaluate inferences that, on the origin and evolution of language has been made to date from the analysis of the fossil remains of primitive hominids, discusses also the evolutionary history of genes that appears to have played an important role in the emergence of language in terms phylogenetic, responding in particular to (i) those genes that, having been the subject of a positive selection over the recent evolutionary history of the human species would be involved in the regulation of various aspects of neurogenesis and neuronal migration, as well as various aspects of brain metabolism, and (ii) those whose gene mutation in humans leads to disorders (exclusively) lingüsticos. Finally, in this dissertation is to critically evaluate the contribution of genetic component to the development of phylogenetic ontogenético and "body language", which can be summarized as follows: (i) the role of genes does not consist in determining one character per se, but in the synthesis of a particular protein with a specific physiological function, (ii) a single gene functions at different times and different places (pleiotropismo), (iii) various genes contribute, each in a ratio otherwise, the development and functioning of the neural circuits responsible for the processing lingüstico (poligenismo), (iv) maintaining a balance among themselves products encoded by the set of genes involved (in the form of gradients or combinations of specific signaling molecules) more emphasis should, if possible, that the mere individual role played by each of them; (v) the activity of genes would be tied in a decisive manner by the molecular and ontogenético context, as well as the environment lingüstico that develops the individual, (vi) the genes are closely related to find components molecular, cellular, physiological, functional and phenotypic macroestructural's "body language", so that, in particular, the act itself lingüstico and the context in which there is modularían the response of the entire system, conditioning, therefore, the expression of the first, and (vii) from the evolutionary point of view, the language would not have been created from scratch in molecular terms, but would have emerged through recycling items (molecule 8 res, ont 5b7 ogenéticos, cytological and histological) already present in our bodies as a result of their evolutionary history. The characterization of the language that arises from the previous recitals home successfully with certain proposals developed in the field of Lingüstica, particularly with those derived from the Program Minimalista chomskyano, because the latter implies a very significant reduction of the load required for the genetic development (ontogenético and phylogenetic) from the faculty of language, which arise as a result of entering into contracts in charge of systems of thought and perception and motor, which would be a program that would be more complex genetic and with a story evolutionary much longer.

Summary: This thesis explores the notion of "phase", his relationship with the morphology and its relevance to the study of linguistics parametric variation. The paper reviews various empirical arguments in favor of the stages, supporting the idea that abstract morphology (eg, case and matching) is the most reliable indicator formally define the boundaries of phase. Here, we have discussed the possibility that there may be exceptional transfer processes (and not "phases", technically) motivated by the movement of the verb in the so-called "zero-language subject." In terms of the morphology is not abstract, it is argued that the wealth morphological explicit (eg. Forms verbal vs. non-personal. Personal verbal forms) regulates that a language has more or less versatility of a word (ie it more or less plastic). Still Within the area of parametric variation, is discussed on the one hand, the possibility that the subjunctive mood is a manifestation of "C / T-defectivo" and on the other, the close relationship between Germanic languages such as Icelandic or Swedish with the Spanish in the process of "change the subject" (object shift) to generate order Verbo-Objeto-Sujeto crucial turn for the pattern Verbo-Sujeto-Objeto. More specifically, the theory argues that those languages that generate order Verbo-Objeto-Sujeto by changing the subject (and not, say, topicalización of Syntagma Verbal) are those that can generate order Verbo-Sujeto-Objeto. The final chapter investigating phenomena extraction, which advocates an analysis consistent with the narrative line of the thesis: morphology is responsible for certain syntactic domains are transparent or opaque.

Summary: Reading ecocrítica of the work of Charles Ferdinand Ramuz this Swiss writer has always been an early environmentalist, concerned about the conservation and preservation of the nature of their country and its mountains, with which it has a very special bond; show that their descriptions of majestic landscapes symbolize for this author more than just a decoration on the scene to put the fate of its characters. Not only men, with all their sentences, represented for him the center of everything; nature, also played an important role. Ramuz intended to send a message precise; nature is a living entity that suffers, which has feelings and we have to respect that.
