THE STORY AS A LITERARY GENRE BETWEEN THE YEARS 1930 AND 1960. A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN THE LITERARY HISPANIC AND GERMANIC.Author: TEJERO ALFAGEME MARIA PILAR. Year: 2004. University: ZARAGOZA [ www.unizar.es]. Place of defense: FACULTAD DE FILOSOFIA Y LETRAS. Place of preparation: FACULTAD DE FILOSOFIA Y LETRAS. Summary: The original thesis of this work was to ascertain that such seemingly disparate works, such as microrrelatos of J112n Jose Arreola (Varia Invention ( 1949) and Confabulario (1952)) and Maghrebinische Geschichten (1953) by Gregor von Rezzori and Die Tante Jolesch oder der Untergang des Abendlandes in Anekdoten (1975) Friedrich Torberg go back to reality in the tradition of anecdote as a literary genre. The word microrrelato is actually a concept that includes only one feature: brevity. The literary criticism today emphasizes the originality and innovation of this kind, wanting to see him ónicamente the emergence of the movement that revolutionized avant-garde literature of the twentieth century. After reading the works of many authors who are deemed to write microrrelatos (Huidobro, Torri, Borges, Bioy Casares, Monterroso, to name a few, since the list is endless) discovered that under this term fit many genres: apothegms, anecdotes , bestiaries, exempla, jokes, jokes, cases, news. Understanding gender means a study in its evolution and its mystification with other genres, as well as question the status filosófico-histórico it. Therefore, to understand the microrrelato and defend their relationship with the story, we are not another remedy was to study it in its decisive moments, as is the transition from oral to the writing on the world stage agónica of our traditions. Thus, we discover, first, that microrrelato not only relates to the story, but also with all genres brief that emerged from the decomposition of the story (joke, joke or deception, particular case), and secondly, in our Western culture, the centuries including late Middle Ages and Humanism first are essential to the development of these genres. In the first chapter of the thesis do a review of theoretical picture on the story. We produced a critical study, establishing clear lines of thought and taking into account the different theoretical schools studying anecdote as a literary genre. This chapter is divided into two blocks. In the first study the different theories of anecdote from a histórico-filosófico, distinguishing three basic stages: Humanism, and the birth of modernity (German Classicism and Romanticism), and the maturity of modernity (the twentieth century). In a second section, which we called "Deslinde gender-dedicate ourselves to the study of the different answers that have given theorists at the time to analyze the story in its relationship with other genres minors, as the joke, joke or the literary tale. In the second chapter we studied the anecdote in antiquity, inserted into three major areas or genres, because at this stage the anecdote does not appear independently: gender simposíaco, compilations and encyclopaedic history. In the third chapter we studied the erosion folk tale and its disintegration in other genres minors, which took place at the end of the late Middle Ages and the first European humanism. The corpus of selected works for this is as follows:-Erasmus, Colloquia (1518-1529). Mensa philosophica (first half of the thirteenth century-1480). - Torquemada, Symposia satirical (1533) and Flower Garden curious (1569). Ii-Novellino (centuries XIII-XIV). - Francesco Sacchetti, 11 Trecentonovelle (late fourteenth century). Gian-Francesco Poggio Bracciolini Liber facetiarum (1380-1495). - Sebastian Brant, Das Narrenschiff or The ship of Follies (1494). - Heinrich Bebel, Facetien (1508-1512). - Michael Lindener, Rastbüchlein und Katzipori (1558). - Jakob Frey, Gastengesellschaft (1556). - Georg Wickram, Das Rollwagenbüchlein (1555). - Johannes Pauli, Schimpf und Ernst (1522). - Santa Cruz, Floresta Spanish (1574). - Timoneda, Overall notice and Portacuentos (1564) and The Sobremesa relief and walkers (1563). - Sebastian Mey, Fabulario (1613). - Juan Lara of Evil, Philosophia Vulgaris (1566). We believe that the most interesting conclusions of this chapter are: having a rough concept of gender, as well as story, particular case, 8 joke or ffe mockery and anecdote; bear in mind that words like story in Spain, in Italy novella , schwank in Germany and facecia in literature written in Latin are actually different words for the same phenomenon that occurred in Europe during the first Humanism: the mystification and descanoni7ación of genres minors from the decomposition of the folk tale, and finally try to identify the most important mechanisms for this mystification. The conclusions of the thesis we gave a perfect definition of the sexes, which tries to meet the aesthetic requirements of each, including: primary education in the story, the experience of an ancestor on his relationship with the gods in the case ; banish the stupidity of the realm of the human person at the joke and mockery; dignification of the wise and witty hero who rebels against the new values resulting from the inequality in the festive story. But, as we have pointed out, it would be normal in these works of the late Middle Ages and early Humanism find these genres mixed. So in theory find definitions like: cuentos-anécdotas copies; anecdotes festivosatíricas; stories burlesque; event particular-burla, etc.. That is, the most important feature of these genera is its mainstreaming and proteísmo, and the most important mechanisms that make it possible transmigration would be: the location in space and time, the strength of a player, ie heroificación; different treatments of laughter (whether folk, satirical, destructive, etc.). resistance or justification for what is obscene, and the treatment or processing of traditional values, such as ingenuity, generosity, generosity, the concept of what fabulous. In the fourth and final chapter apply the conclusions taken from the body of the thesis to study comparing the story between the years 1930 and 1960. Arreola takes up the rhetorical tradition of works encyclopaedic knowledge dissemination. But in his collections are not an anecdote exemplary and didactic, but an anecdote festive belonging to the aesthetics that advocates a new humanism. Torberg and Rezzori, however, seek the establishment of an idyll through anecdotes. They create an imaginary country that is based on the defunct Austro-Hungarian Empire (the union of East and West) and they do it through these genres brief from the erosion of the folk tale. In our view, this argument assume three challenges: first, the task of retrieving evolutionary study of values in their great eras, from the perspective of the philosophy of history, revelándonos against the division of science and knowledge in areas of times close, among which there is the permeability of ideas, and second, understand the story, not only as a brief and witty occurred in the historical reality and has a moral order, but as a genre that has a folk origin and which responds aesthetic themselves to the needs of the passage of world traditions from the historical societies, and third, to discover the huge interest in a wide range of genres from minor wear, sometimes degradation, the folk tale, to bring new tasks, as the study of the same story, microrrelato or trial since a new aesthetic perspective. THE POLICE NOVEL OF CLASSICAL ROMAN THEME. RIGOR AND INVENTIONAuthor: Vigueras Fernández Ricardo. Year: 2005. University: MURCIA [ www.um.es]. Place of defense: Facultad de Letras. Universidad de Murcia. Place of preparation: Facultad de Letras. Universidad de Murcia. Summary: The Doctoral Thesis deals with the study of fifteen works: seven novels and a volume of short stories of American Steven Saylor, five novels also of American John Maddox Roberts, finally, two novels of Spanish writer Joaquin Borrell. There has been searching for the classical sources, a review of these humanistic and literary works applied to the following major items to each devoted an entire chapter of the thesis: the city of Rome, forces of law and order, Mythology , Religion and world of the dead, Characters historical, military and armies Battles, Art and Architecture, Food & Drink, Circuses and gladiators. The conclusions that we have reached are: 1. Various vision of historical fact: Revisionism of Saylor versus traditionalism of Maddox. While Maddox is more faithful to the classical sources and follow feet juntillas As Cicero said, Salustio and Plutarch, Saylor part of the same sources for reinterpretarlas and thus create a 'argumentum', ie, an interpretation invented on a bottom of the period. Maddox, however, is more faithful to the official view of history. 2. Verosimilitud the figure of exquiriente or detective. The authors use the ambigà ¼ age to create a historical personage detectivesco to remain true to our vision of the traditional detective while being overly historical plausibility. They are based mainly on the testimony of informers, monitor, tresviros capital and the routine use by Cicero informants. 3. Americans of Antigà ¼ age and Americans today. The two authors with different intent, establish a parallelism between the Roman Empire and the modern American Empire. This comparison is not meant to be scientific or fundamentalist, is subtle and didactic, illustrative. 4. Different use of the time frame. Saylor invents more history, while Maddox invents more between history. There is a substantial difference in goals: Saylor looking for the creation of a fresh historical, while Maddox addresses a number of times. 5. There is extensive documentary research by the authors. The documentary research of the authors is acknowledged and tourism. It serves both as classic works of modern texts. 6. This illuminates the past. The view is modern, as well as ideological narrative. There is a strong influence of films on the work of these authors. 7. Rigor and invention of literary style. Modern translations of "Satiricón", Petronio was consitituyen as an influential model of inspiration for these modern authors by drawing characters and environments. Place of preparation: FACULTAD DE PEDAGOGÍA. Summary: From the context of discourse analysis and literary studies, and from a systemic perspective, we have developed this theory to study the Non-Verbal Communication in a literary text narrative. The main objective is based on the classification morfológico-descriptiva and Functional Systems No. Verbale closest to the human body-Kinésica and Proxémica- in a literary, specifically in Gatopardo. To this end, we have developed a model of Semiótico Transcription of the Non-Verbal Communication in Literature. To demonstrate its viability, given the breadth of the subject, we decided to narrow our field of research, ciñéndonos the Functional Classification Categorial and the facial expression in the novel above. All of this is aimed at trying to improve the reading, adding a new approach to the analysis of literary works, making the reader aware of the possibility and strategies of the Non-Verbal Communication in a literary text. The ultimate goal of our work is to help the reader to develop the capacity to assess the reading and recognized as a source of cultural enrichment and personal pleasure. The thesis is divided into three levels of analysis: A Prime-Level Analysis exposed the methodological basis of our argument, and we try to express the resources No Verbal Communication at Gatopardo as well as a study of facial expression. B-In a second level of analysis show graphically the numerical values and percentages of those aspects of facial expression. C-And in a Third Level Analysis perform Classification Categorial and Interpretation of all cases of each of the 28 Expressions Facial registered in the novel. We finished our work with the conclusions that we have obtained from the objectives of our thesis, both general and specific, responding to questions Research we have made in the process of developing this thesis. Finally, we set a number of general conclusions that are repeated so systemic in the 28 expressions Facial registered in Gatopardo. Taken together, these findings have led us to determine the importance, indeed, is not Verbal Communication in a literary text. MODES OF EVALUATION AND RHETORICAL PATTERNS: A CONTRASTIVE STUDY OF ENGLISH AND SPANISH BOOK REVIEWS.Author: SUÁREZ TEJERINA LORENA. Year: 2005. University: LEÓN [ www.unileon.es]. Place of defense: FACULTAD DE FILOSOFÍA Y LETRAS. Place of preparation: UNIVERSIDAD DE LEÓN. Summary: This dissertation is part of the Rhetoric Contrastiva. In particular, it aims at the identification and interpretation of the similarities and differences between English and Spanish regarding the evaluation strategies (praise and criticism) in the reviews of books published in academic journals and macrostructure typical this genre literally. In order to ensure comparability of the texts, most of the work of contrast between the two cultures written focuses on the comparison intralingüstica of macrostructure by textual study of two academic disciplines, history and law. Through this kind of rhetorical comparative analysis, the thesis aims to: a) reach a better understanding of the reviews of academic books, a genre rarely studied him in the past, b) clarify the still poorly defined concept of evaluation in the speech, Specifically, how the writers shared with readers his criticisms and praises of academic books in the context of a review and c) to determine the role of evaluation in macrostructure of the reviews. This thesis shows that the writers English and Spanish share similar expectations on the conventions of writing reviews of academic books, which would affirm that reviews academic constitute a genre in their own right. For example, recensores tend to organize their reviews according to a set of functional units textual defined and recognizable: 1) introduction, 2) description of the parts of the book, 3) evaluation of certain aspects or parts, and 4) final verdict . Another common feature seems to be a tendency to concentrate on specific sections of evaluative comments of the review, the third and fourth. In addition, recensores of the two cultures tend to open and close the review with positive evaluation of the book. Moreover, the negative assessment focuses on the central part of the review, there was more room for justification, discussion and mitigating the negative evaluation. It also shows, among other things, that resources such as the adverb perhaps- quizá- are used in both cultures written to soften criticism of the book recensionado. They also noted that relations adversativas (type but- pero-) are often involved in carrying out strategies combination criticism and praise, in order to mitigate criticism. On the other hand, this dissertation reveals some interesting differences between the English and Spanish that reviews should be attributed to cultural preferences. For example, not only have the British reviews much evaluation, but also show that most critical reviews Spanish. To a lesser extent, have revealed differences attributable to trends specific disciplinary specific cultures. For example, recensores Spanish law seem to be much more reluctant to express negative assessments that recensores Spanish history. This research has important applications in the teaching of reading and writing academic reviews in English and Spanish as a foreign language. Similarly, the results of this study may be useful for designing future patterns writers. LEONARDO SCIASCIA AND SPANISH CULTURE.Author: GONZALEZ DE SANDE ESTELA. Year: 2005.
