  • HEALTH AND ADDICTIONS. CURRENT STATUS OF RESEARCH IN SPAIN
    Author: CANO PEREZ LEONOR.

Summary: The purpose of this research is to contribute to the analysis of historiographic addiction and health in Spain during the period 1975-1998, decades in which there is the consolidation of this approach to psychology in our country. This fact is reflected in several aspects: establishment of associations, including subjects related to addiction in all universities where he taught psychology, a large increase in the scientific literature on the subject, the growing number of psychologists and care centers and social reintegration . This study has taken a quantitative perspective documentary, bibliométrica (or historiométrica, if you prefer), focusing on the aspect of publications. The documentary unit that has been used has been the scientific article, assuming that the scientific journal is the best vehicle of communication for more than a century, having gradually shifted to the book from the Scientific Revolution of the seventeenth century . The conceptual framework of our work is part of the consideration of science as a social organization that can be applied to the methods sociométricos and historiométricos to complement other qualitative insights. This prospect is now firmly and has served two decades in Psychology Spanish, driven at its source by Professor Carpenter, who arrived to form, in the words of Brozek, a school Valencian of Historiometría. As a result of this initial momentum, the Spanish Society for the History of Psychology has been hosting its annual symposiums in a good amount of contributions bibliométricas. They also have appeared increasingly dissertations conducted wholly or partly with this methodology. To carry out our analysis bibliométrico because we consider those aspects covered classically a study bibliométrico: productivity, collaborative analysis of materials leaving for another study of the analysis of future events, given the difficulty of finding databases full text. We work primarily with reference databases. We have seen fit to complement bibliométrico analysis with a chapter devoted to historically contextualize the subject of addictions and health in the first two chapters.
