Summary: The thesis is presented that represents a study individual differences in the neurobiological underpinnings of personality proposed by the theory of the sensitivity Strengthening JA Gray. Through five works are analyzed variations in the structure and brain activity through structural and functional Magnetic Resonance. The first two works are studying these variations in the volume of gray matter through morphometry based on vóxel from scores in the two scales of the questionnaire Sensitivity Punishment and sensitivity to the Reward. In the first work, the results show an inverse relationship between sensitivity to the Reward and the volume of striped cord. The second work shows a direct correlation between sensitivity to punishment and the volume of the amygdala and the hippocampus. The other three studies analyzed changes in brain activity using functional Magnetic Resonance, as individual differences in sensitivity to the Reward. In studies functional applies: a paradigm of image processing apetitivas and aversivas; another paradigm of inhibitory control, and a cognitive and emotional Stroop paradigm. The results across all three studies show a direct correlation between scores on the sensitivity Reward and the activation of areas involved in the system mesocorticolímbico able apetitivas. On the other hand, there is an inverse relationship between scores on this scale and areas límbicas able aversivas. At the cognitive Sensitivity to the Reward relates to the increased activation in areas related to the resolution of conflicts by interference. In conclusion, the results of the various studies are consistent with the predictions of the theory of the sensitivity at the Reward neurobehavioral.
