Summary: The Rules of Basketball regulates precise manner, the conditions under which the throw shooting: the distance of delivery, the height of the hoop, the time available for launch and the placement of other players. These conditions make the free kick in basketball, is a typical skill autorregulada within a sport dynamic colaboración-oposición. For all that, after the entry into tray unopposed, the free kick is considered the easiest shot of basketball. Despite this bull during matches, it is common to observe changes in the percentages of success that can not be explained by changes in the level of mastery of skill. The explanation for these variations in performance appears to be due to variations in the player's psychological state at the time of the free kick. The overall objective of this thesis has been the performance in the shooting thrown in the decisive moments of the games. It has analyzed the presence of potentially stressful situations common in the development of basketball games, as well as the influence of personal variables moderating the relationship between potentially stressful situations and manifestations of stress response. Moreover, it has studied the psychological state of the player before the free kick and the influence of personal factors outlined above, in this psychological state. To this end, the thesis is divided into two main sections. One part that makes a theory. And a second part in which, from that approach, includes three empirical studies. In the first part, after an introduction to the rules of the game of basketball, it starts with the functional analysis of the behavior of the free kick. It describes the characteristics of driving free kick, shooting technique used by the players and the routine pre-draft (rhythm, duration and consistency in the execution of the routine draft). Here are the situations background free kick and the consequences of the conduct of free kick on the outcome of the basketball games, that is, the importance of performance in the free throws, compared to the other measures of performance ( rebounds, shot two points, assists, etc..), for the outcome of the games. The end of this chapter is devoted to the psychological variables related to the performance in the shooting: the trigger level, concentration, self-efficacy, stress and the "psychological time" before the player's free kick. In the following chapters, outlines the personal and contextual factors related to performance in the shooting.
