Summary: The purpose of this study dela doctoral thesis is the study of the temporal organization of work in a group of workers, specifically the Police Local municipality of Oviedo (Asturias). In order to frame and contextualize research, deepening study begins from the point of view of theory and conceptual feature of the current world of work in progress and developed in the field of occupational health and safety Labor, as well as the different approaches taken to out in the field of prevention of risks at work. After developing the first part of the theoretical foundation is completed with the analysis of the phenomenon of this research: the turnicidad. From an approach that combines the perspectives cronobiológica and psychosocial, the second part of the paper analyzes the variables related to adaptation to the system of shift work, as well as the effects, alterations and malfunctions caused by this type of organization temporary agents the Local Police in Oviedo. One of the key aspects of the investigation has been complementarity and integration methodology, applying the SSI drums (shiftwork Standard Index) to a representative sample of work and a series of semi-structured interviews. The main results of the investigation show that the work done by officers of the Local Police, based primarily on conditions turnicidad, adversely affects the health of this group in all three areas, physical, psychological and social
