Summary: Our participatory research, proposed to build solidarity networks and introduce agroecology and sustainable development strategies, has been carried out in the rural community of Maracajá, in the Northeast region of Brazil. It began in the year
1999, and it was noticed in doctoral thesis between 2002 and 2006. This work was carried out according to the socio-economic problems experienced for that community as well as environmental problems caused for the predatory practice of agriculture, which has evolved rapidly showing strong signs of desertification, to the point of threatening the environment and the survival of the population living in their localities. As a result of the research was provided by the knowledge obtained about the systematic agroecosystem local adding to that the sociological study of the peasant community. As a result of practical purpose mentioned at the beginning has been performed reasonably.
