Summary: The object of study of this thesis is the movement of the unemployed in Argentina, since its inception in June
1996 until June 2002, when it killed two demonstrators in Buenos Aires. First, there is a periodization of the movement's history, and a description of the different groupings. Highlighting the main milestones and turning points that allow differentiation periods and reflect the complexity and diversity organizational, action and goals. Secondly, it addresses the main mode of action: the picket. This sets its particular characteristics and the interrelationships which sets with citizens and the government. It notes the various explanatory variables: the national socio-economic structure, law and social programs in the state. Third, it conducts an analysis of the discursive strategies used by different actors in various events. Through this qualitative study examines both frames diagnoses such as major arguments supported by the various actors. Finally, the study on three national media, trying to determine how the media built the news events and how conditioned the interpretation of what happened. The work, since the concept of social movement is polysemic and prospects for study are varied, includes also a theoretical analysis about this word to establish its scope and boundaries, and an overview of the different theoretical analysis.
