Summary: The main objective of this thesis is to explore the dramatic work of Edgar Nkosi White as macrodiscurso theater. Specifically, this study shows that the internal consistency of the work by this author resides in the representation of racial oppression constant across different systems scenic. The House of Edgar Nkosi White recreates perspective predominantly black oppressed, but also includes racial tensions that divide black communities, as well as traps socio-históricas and discursive that imprison the white oppressor. For this reason, their production dramatúrgica is defined as "Theater of Oppression." With this designation analytical intended to emphasize that only valid and relevant and universal reading of his dramatic work if the particular socio-cultural represented in the texts previously recognized. In order to achieve this overall objective, theatrical works of Edgar Nkosi White undergo a scan semiotics. Specifically, the thesis examines in detail systems signs of works published so far, as well as two manuscripts. Within the framework semiotic, other streams of studies theatrical appear as methodological tools, along with speeches critical derived from postcolonial theory and the so-called "Black Studies".
