Summary: This paper discusses the origin, characteristics and difficulties of the Center for Research on Cancer (USAL-CSIC). By undertaking the same, argue the following thesis: The competitive capacity in scientific research at the Center for Research on Cancer (USAL-CSIC), not just a matter of administrative personnel and services, technical and research staff ( human resources), or the amount received for economic research projects (funds), but also science policy affects the competitiveness of the group of scientific research (legitimization and protective institutions). In addition to the presentation, includes seven chapters of this work. The first of these "Organization for Social Science and Environment." Where to place a description of the social reality that is the Center for Cancer Research USAL-CSIC. In the second, "Process Gestation CIC", I wonder how and why they originated the Center for Cancer Research in Salamanca. In the third chapter, the study "process organization and functioning of the ICC." Second and third chapter shows how the social legitimacy, both by the Social Environment, as part of the group manager, outlines an Organization Scientific differential within the Competitive Environment Specific Spain. The fourth chapter on "Relations Organization for Social Science and Environment" raises the question  What is the relationship between the Organization for Social Science and the Environment ". The Organization Scientific is actively seeking greater support from Neighborhood Social Research CIC. In the fifth chapter, "Social Reality of Scientific Career" I look at the fabric that produces legitimacy in the organization of science. In the sixth chapter treatment on the funding available in the CIC, economic resources. Finally, in the seventh chapter, I wonder at the existence of institutions that protect, promote and / or implement the scientific activity.
