Summary: Attention analytical risk management in complex technological systems are linked in this thesis, in two main areas. Firstly, a first chapter which develops and proposes a theoretical reflection, in general terms, provides historical and technological changes under which the risk has been mutating both its form and its content and leading to different practices discursive (theoretical) and action strategies (practice). Secondly, a second axis realizes what are called pattern or practice of managing social risks in complex technological systems. The contemporary social configurations deployed and are planning a set of strategies for managing risks in this investigation have been developed and tested as three approaches to risk management. A precautionary approach, an approach regulator and a participatory approach. In each of these three approaches are discussed tamibén estrateigas practices that activate the management of those risks and here take the form of precautionary tools (the precautionary principle), regulatory procedures (regulation and self-regulation systems) and systems of social participation. And it is in the theoretical and practical development of each of these proposals, and in particular in their complementarity, which underpins the assumption that guide this research: risk management is no longer just a function of state control through tools precautionary or preventive or just an activity of an administrative regulation or incentives associated with self-regulation but it is necessary that the risk management mechanisms be supplemented with previous social participation. Risk management can be resolved through negotiation "apriorística" of the same, that is, a negotiation risk shaped by a plurality of ac tors that as implciados part of the process of development and decision-making in the field risk management. The need to analyze the elements that compose this participatory dimension is clearly visible in some initiatives and projects sponsored by international organizations in the nuclear field. A brief example of social participation in risk management in complex technological systems that are analyzed in this investigation are three projects on social aspects in the management of radioactive waste made under the EURATOM Framework Program of the European Community (COWAM -Gestión Waste Community -; RISCOM -Mejorando transparency and public participation in Waste Management Nucleares-; FSC -Foro on the confidence of Stakeholders).

In addition we approach the sociological Spanish tradition to locate there, in context, our author. Introducing Ayala as a member of the Generation of War. Within this, Ayala part of the so-called group of "society without sociologists" (the theme of sociologists who had to go into exile as a result of the defeat of the Second Republic in the Spanish Civil War) alongside Medina Echavarría and Recaséns Siches, who pay also special attention. In chapters three to six (Part II), we deal with the sociology of Ayala, once armed with a theoretical approach (of sociology at the sociology), and once located in Ayala sociology Spanish. The journey through the work of Ayala, while we pay special attention to their biography and their contexts, we pause on the books of its core bibliography (Liberty and Liberalism, Reason's World, the Treaty of Sociology, Introduction to Social Sciences, Trials of Political Sociology, Technology and Freedom, etc..), and we focus on some of the most important ideas of this author (the trend towards unification of the world, their participation in the debate on the problem of Spain, his theory of change partner historic-and the theory of generations, their participation in the discussion of the mass society and the mass man, as well as pay attention to the "me", liberalism and methodological individualism). Analyzing whole sociology of Ayala seeing an interesting game literatura-sociología, as a defendant process of fragmentation of its "sociological approach" that will undergo various stages (sociology systematic, "sociology diffuse," "sociological approach" fragmented) and have a closely related to the two crises of modernity of the twentieth century from which they are written almost every page of his extensive and varied work.

Through the theory of systems Luhmann, to the theories of Habermas or Giddens, explicitly intended to reformulate the foundation sociological realize that society . The present study analyzes the distance, which it shares with respect to the classical theories of sociology, but especially with regard to the diagnosis of society made by Max Weber. Here contemporary sociology incorporates a diverse body concept (reconceptualizando social action, rationality, the individual, and so on. (), From which lays the groundwork for a social scenario other than that presaged by Weber, can make a different interpretation. objective in the Doctoral Thesis is to analyze the various theoretical drifts explored by sociology with the aim of highlighting social change, which will be confined to the study of political relations and convivenciales today. Thus the alleged relativization ethics or social vacuum put forward by Weber to become sociological theory in contemporary aspects of a new scenario which entails positive aspects and different from those conceived earlier. sociology conceived Almost all these roads in democratic terms, which raises the need to include designs in new institutional arrangements capable of incorporating such democratization based on the idea of plurality and a state that lost compelling reason. rest of the study discusses the development of the subjective perception of the public about politics , as well as legislative changes and technical aspects of the design of the administration in order to meet the new limits associated with the policy since these two scenarios so we can show the relationship they have with the roads conceived by sociology. administrations For the changes undertaken in Europe draw a horizon around the boost to citizenship, which adds to the features of sociology, which accentuates the importance at present to the involvement of citizens in defining frameworks convivenciales, something equally interpetable if you look at the development of the subjective perception of the public in Spain. From here we introduce the study of a new political experience (participatory budgets), based on the direct participation of citizens in the political process decision making, in order to analyze its momentum in Spain, namely the conditions and limits of their development in the light of the changes made.

Summary: In this thesis aims to examine how the Spanish press contributes to the construction and reproduction of a picture about immigration and multiculturalism. The study has focused on the analysis of all editorial published by the largest circulation daily in Spain (ABC, El Mundo and El Pais) between 1994 and 2002. This more qualitative approaches have combined (critical discourse analysis) with other more quantitative (content analysis classic) The assumption is that the social integration of immigrants requires active intervention in three dimensions: cultural-identitaria, economic - material and simbólicio-discursiva. Concerning this last dimension (the subject of study of the thesis), the main hypothesis is that the image that the press builds about immigrants is fraught with negative connotations and therefore contributes to hamper the process of full social integration of immigrants. The presentation of results is preceded by a study of the phenomena of globalization (Chapter 2), international migration (Chapter 3), immigration into Spain (Chapter 4), multiculturalism (Chapter 5) and the critical discourse analysis applied to immigration and multiculturalism (Chapter 6)

Summary: In this dissertation we raised the issue of racism as a factor which is based on the social structure and determines the composition of immigration. We have analyzed the impact of migration in today's societies and identified components that exclude people by migrants belong to a particular ethnic group or culture. Our main aim has been to explore whether there was racism in the social structures of societies and provide a theoretical basis and practical help to combat racism based on prejudices and stereotypes toward certain cultural groups, and specifically towards the Arab community Muslim. To achieve this we have from the theoretical approach dialógica of society, opting for those who design theories as current dual societies because they are the result of the influence of systems and the action of the subject. This analysis has enabled us to make contributions in various social subsystems, which can develop an understanding of today's reality and provide elements of analysis to transform it. Two cross-cutting themes have scheduled analysis for each chapter: study the existence and how racism manifests itself in each of the subsystems social, and identify how they are overcoming. So are united most important theoretical contributions in the field of migration and the practical experiences of success in overcoming cultural inequalities, providing a solid foundation to combat stereotypes and prejudices and denied allegations that generate racist discrimination. We have devoted a chapter to each of the subsystems defined for Parsons (Economic, Political, Cultural and Community Company) and in each of them we have identified the components exclusores of these structures that foster discrimination against people on grounds of ethnicity migrants, from the theories put cultural difference to equality for all people or justify racism talking about conflicts and cultural clashes inevitable, even the existence of an ethnic segmentation in the labor market. This shows the need to seek transformer components of this reality, common standards or agreements that ensure respect for difference on an equal footing. Pressed Two of the realities that are creating the social partners in their efforts to adapt to a constantly changing society, contribute to this: equal dialogue and equal differences. They are principles that govern cultural and educational experiences of success around the world, including schools that are getting reduce conflicts that arose between students from different cultures, increase performance and learning tools. Over the thesis we considered education as a tool for social transformation, and although her study more specific place in the chapter on cultural subsystem, and is the background for the analysis and delas various alternatives raised in each of the social subsystems. The practices discussed in the thesis are only a few of the examples demonstrating the possibility of agreeing on common standards between different people and groups. This is a transformation process that can also be made more global in our societies, through the construction of a multicultural community and corporate dialógica, where equality and inclusion of all its members are guaranteed through solidarity multicultural dialogic and where equality and inclusion of all its members are guaranteed through solidarity and loyalty to the commonly agreed rules.
